Any idea when the final decision will be mailed? Since Texas does not have a fixed decision date does this mean that decision are also given on a rolling basis?

well, the decisions are not exactly rolling in the sense that someone who applied before you may be admitted after you and so on....

but they are given in waves....the last wave was sometime during the 2nd half of december....no idea when the next wave is gonna be....i hope it starts soon...!!

I guess one at the end of this week (or next) and another around the 28th of January. Speculation based on last year's admission dates.

I hope its this weekend....the lack of a fixed deadline is really making it tougher to wait longer... ;)

Not yet! They told me that they'd be mailing out flash drives with info this week. I did get an email telling me that I would receive information at the end of the month regarding how to send in the $1250 enrollment deposit.

That's more than I've gotten. I really want to get it too--I don't feel safe without official confirmation.

Is the parttime UT program also rolling admissions? What about parttime at Rice?

Didn't realize parttime UT was all fixed. Rice offers electives then?

Need to check the ENHANCE program. Thanks

thanks avern. UT has a houston program, among its many options so I was looking into that. I guess they offer a variety of part time options, but the difference in their parttime rankings was a little surprising..

Also consider this: the part-time UT program in Houston is completely fixed. Everyone takes the same classes regardless, and there are no majors/concentrations. Also, it is difficult to get involved with extracurriculars at a school that is housed in a hotel.

With the Rice part-time MBA, you can take electives. You also have access to the full time's clubs and events. The ENHANCE program through the part-time Texas program at Houston seems inferior to its full-time experiential learning program. At the Rice part-time, I assume you would have access to the same experiential learning (I think its called immersion) programs that the the full-time student do.

Disclosure: I live in Houston and researched both programs thoroughly. In the end, I decided full-time Texas was a far superior option for me. Of course, your case is unique. If you really want to go part-time and switch careers, then pursue the Rice MBA. If you want to use the part-time MBA to move up within your current field, shoot for the Texas MBA at Houston. Money doesn't make a difference for part-timers because the costs are the same and neither programs offer scholarships.

I know what you mean piggles - I'm gunna have to ding Rice by end of next week, but it'd be nice to have something in hand from UT first.

Question for folks who have requested TOEFL waiver. Does waiver request needs to be approved before the deadline for submission or can the waiver request be approved after the deadline without shifting the application to next round?

The wait is killing me. I submitted my app on 11/1, interviewed on 12/2, and haven't heard anything since.

Visor, I hear you. I know I'm taking the Rice offer, but I still want to know what UT says. I paid my application fee, I have the right. But going on 10 weeks is a bit ridiculous!! I have not been impressed by any aspect of their application process. It really does not reflect well on them, nor is it what you would expect from a top tier school. Very disappointing.

10 weeks is ridiculous? Did you interview 10 weeks ago or just apply 10 weeks ago?

Ten weeks doesn't even approach ridiculous.

I sympathize with your need to hear because of Rice, but let's be fair.

I'm in the same situation as Visor, applied 11/1, interviewed 12/3. I think the problem is the interview. The interviewer told me she had 10 days to fill out the information on the interview. That means that admissions might not have had the information until 12/14, that leaves them 1 week before break started, then they were off for 2 weeks, and nothing got done. Now they have been back for a week, but maybe the current students that are involved in the admissions process have not returned... I don't know... All I know is that all the other schools I applied to Round 1 have answered a while ago.

Yeah, although technically they don't have a Round 1 because they're on rolling admission. Last year, there were people who applied in time for their suggested deadline who got admitted straight up (not off the waitlist) all the way up to February 5th.

That said, the wait is pretty frustrating.

The website stated that the process takes 10-12 weeks, not including the 2 weeks off for the holidays. We're still in that window. I know you must be frustrated, but hang in there. I applied to four schools round one, and I've only heard back from two of them so far (and they were due weeks before McCombs' initial deadline). Some schools will release decisions sooner than others. Nothing we can do about that.
