Well, after a couple calls and emails to the admissions office, I was informed that I have been placed on the waitlist. Just glad I finally know where I stand.

that is ridiculous that you had to call to find that out

I am submitting my McCombs app tonight. Does anyone know how long (on average) it takes to get an interview invite for McCombs if you apply in R2? I know that it can vary, but but I just got an interview invite for Cox (SMU) and apparently I have to go to campus for that. I would love to hold off on scheduling that if I can do both my Texas and my Cox interview on the same trip. I am out in Cali right now and a plane ticket to TX isn't cheap. So I guess my question is, how long after I submit my Texas application should I expect to hear from them (all of my other materials are in) -and this is a big IF I get an interview (obviously it's not a given). At what point am I unlikely to get an interview invite if I still haven't heard? 2 weeks? 4? Just trying to save about $700 a couple of days if I get the invite from TX. Thanks to everyone and good luck!!

I've withdrawn my application for R2, because I was accepted at one of my R1 schools. I somehow received an interview invitation before I was able to pay the application fee, so I'm guessing that they use GMAT scores to filter applicants in the initial review.

Guess you are right. Submitted Jan 7th and got an interview this morning. Followed by an email asked me to pay the fee. I am an international applicant, so I could only do alumni interview. Did any international applicants were offered to have a off-campus adcom interview in R1?

I am still missing out staff, such as official transcript and financial aid document, my status is still under review... but I can use the schedule interview link now.

Sorry - something got lost in translation there. What is your GMAT? I'm just curious to see what they're basing your interview selection on, especially because it was so quick.

730, 3 year w/e. I don't think my GMAT is especially high since i'm from China. No idea why it was so quick.

So far this year, the average GMAT for admitted applicants is 731. I wonder if Texas is making an effort to address their relatively low average score (684) within its peer group. Granted, this is a pretty small sample...
i can assure u tht GMAT is not their concern....

I would wait til next week, Tuesday/Wednesday to schedule your Cox interview. I got an invite the next business day (R2) with a 720 GMAT and 3.7 GPA. I also interviewed with an alum in my hometown instead of going to UT and had a great experience (not sure if it's paid off...have not heard anything yet). That is always an option if you can't cram them into the same trip.

Ok thanks for the advice! I will give it two weeks before scheduling my interview and keep my fingers crossed that a) I get an interview invite in the next two weeks and b) that I get an interview invite period!

Let the waiting begin...

Submitted app for R2 yesterday evening; however, the application ending was rather abrupt--no regular fee payment. A note came up that said, you need to pay through their bill payment system once we send you an invite. Also, whats the deal with mailing in the transcripts? Do we have to mail our official transcripts(in addition to uploading them)? If so, do they have to be sent directly from the school you attended? UG/Grad transcripts usually say whether they were issued to a student or a school mentioned in the transcript request form.

Please advise.

1) Yes, their fee payment is strange. You should be able to pay your fee in a few days.
2) I'm pretty sure you only need an officially sealed transcript, but it might be just as easy to have your school send it directly. The instructions are buried in their maze of websites, but you need to have it sent somewhere in the GIAC, and not directly to McCombs.

Buried is the right word ! The deal is, I did my undergrad overseas and the registrar's office (at my former school) will take a few weeks to send the transcripts. However, before I moved to the US -- I took several sealed transcripts from the school and I am contemplating whether I can use those. What makes it complicated is that I attended 3 Universities (1 UG(overseas) and 2 Grad(the US) )-- how will the school track all 3? I think I'll call the admissions dept and ask them about it.

Thanks for the response !

Yep McCombs application is one funky app. You would need to send all your transcripts (UG, Graduate and Phd if you hold one) to them with a form that is available on their site. The worst part is that if you are an international you might require to give the TOEFL exam or request for a waiver. The whole app process for McCombs has made me wonder why the hell I am applying to this school?
McCombs you just went down in my rankings. Only way to redeem it is to give me an admit with full schol :-D
