I've found myself in a precarious situation regarding the academic portion of my profile:
Undergrad GPA: 3.16 (3.4 in major). 1st problem spot: Took a 'W' on first attempt at Calc, and then a C- on the 2nd attempt. Long story short: I was a dumb 18 year old and didn't care to try. Was too busy socializing and working 20 hours/week.
GMAT: Not yet taken, I'm projecting somewhere between 660 and 700.
Target schools: PT programs at Booth, Ross, Kellogg, or MSU (as a backup).
Now the real problem: Over this past summer, I signed up at the local community college to retake Calc and get that all important 'A' for an alternative transcript. However, things at home turned for the worst and I had to take a 'W' (......again).
I have a few questions and I'm open to any input, but I realize that I'm probably screwed. I know I can use the extra essay to address my less than stellar GPA and the first 'W', but my gosh I don't think there's anything I could say that would excuse the 2nd, even the truth. I can see how a stellar Quant score may offset this - but what I fear is the adcom seeing my failed third attempt and think, "this guy just isn't consistent and appears to have trouble following through - denied" or some variation there of.
So, few questions:
1. When submitting an application, must I send all academic transcripts? Or can I simply just not send the one from CC? I know Booth says that you must submit all - I wonder if they'd have any way of finding the transcript from CC? I don't want to deceive the adcom but I'll admit I'm desperate (especially to get into Booth).
2. If I must send all, can enough damage control be done to salvage the app?
3. Should I just suck it up, take Calc again (4th time...) and complete it?
Or am I SOL...
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.
