I am preparing to apply to a b-school and have just started the process. My gmat is 750.

However I need help regarding a few topics
- How do I select which B schools to apply to? They all seem so good that how do I filter out colleges from the top 10.
- I need to figure out my future goals and plans like "Why do I want to do an mba etc". How do i figure that out and what material should I go through to figure that out.
- How to go about the whole application process of a B school. I am just starting out so I need help.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Good Questions! And really there are a lot of good sources out there, and you should read up on these questions deeply. But I'll give you some quick answers

- How do I select which B schools to apply to? They all seem so good that how do I filter out colleges from the top 10.
I'd say the three most important things are:
a) Apply to the best school you can
b) Apply to schools which are strong in your target industry
c) Apply based on fit/feeling

Besides that, there is the question of location, and if you have any other personal or professional constraints.

- I need to figure out my future goals and plans like "Why do I want to do an mba etc". How do i figure that out and what material should I go through to figure that out.
Good question! No easy answer here. Lots of introspection. Lots of speaking to people in jobs you might be interested in. Afterwards, for your application there are strategies and techniques (like it's gotta make sense).

- How to go about the whole application process of a B school. I am just starting out so I need help.
That's a pretty vast question. First start off by getting brochures of schools you might be interested in (okay that's a bit 90s… you can just visit the websites), and lurk around here and other similar sites. Thousands of people have gone through what you are going to go through, so learn from them.

Hey there,

The other posters have given some great advice here. As for how to pick schools - you're right, there are a lot of great options out there. One of the resources we have on our website is how to begin the thought exercise that is finding some good programs for you (link). It isn't an exhaustive link of all the things you should take into account and it doesn't recommend what variables are more important than others. However, it's a good place to start reading up on what all the little levers are that differentiate one program from one another.

If you have any questions after you read it, don't hesitate to reach out!
