Hi, congrats on your success . I have a question.. Would you suggest a first time test taker to solve and get a complete hang of the OG Problems. Would it be sufficient if someone pratices n understands the OG problems well.

Great job! Does your GMAT score come up directly after you submit the final answer? Does the screen display your score while asking whether you want to accept the score? Thanks.

Thanks a lot!
The GMAT score comes up after a series of background information questions. The background questions come after you submit the final question.
The screen displays the score on one screen and on the screen after it, you make the decision to report or cancel the scores.

Hey Thanks a lot :)
I would not suggest you to go through the files without first completing the GMAT Prep mock tests, because those are the best indicators of your true potential.
However if you are done with the Mock tests and the Extended Pack tests, you can go ahead and solve as many problems as you can from those pdfs

Hi Ankur,

Awesome score and you truly deserve that for not giving up!! :beer
I can imagine your reaction on seeing the score...Like they say..Hardwork always pays off.

Your debrief is again a pointer to why error log is important but did you have error log for RC's as well.

What stands out for me :
"The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason why you held so long"
I held on too long to let it go, and finally got it

I hope I will be able to muster enough courage to give the exam in aug and not postpone !!

I feel like I am memorizing questions from error log. Any advice on this? CR is my weakest section.

Also how do you practice for Quant?

Hey, I did not really follow any strategy for quants as I was cpretty much comfortable with it.
Still, I think the magoosh course helped me. The initial questions of OG are too basic, but the questions in GMAT prep exams are good.
try to find the explanations of the questions by searching them in gmatclub.
Also, MGMAT CATs also have a good variety of questions. Although they are a bit on the higher difficulty side, but if you solve them, you will not find any difficulty with the GMAT questions.
One another resource which i have heard a lot about are the gmatclub tests. I have not solved the tests, but I have read about them in a lot many debriefs and think they would be helpful in your preparation. Be careful as they are a bit difficult.

Let me know if you need any further clarification.

Yes, I did have an error log for RC also. I made a note of the types of questions I was unable to solve and then tried to focus more on those questions when I solved the next RC passage

You will never see the same question on the GMAT. Identify the type of question which you are not able to solve, and then try to practice those questions.
Broadly classify your incorrect questions into the following:

1. Inference
2. Assumption
3. Conclusion
4. Passage Completion
5. Strengthen/Weaken

See, in which types of questions you are facing difficulty and then attack that particular type.
For Quants, I have mentioned the materials used in the post above.

Also another amendment was the practice of RCs. In all I would have solved more than 120 RCs for the 4th round of preparation.
I also maintained an error log. Not a proper excel sheet, but I kept on noting down all the problems which were incorrect and made sure to learn new concepts attached to them. I found the new concepts by searching for those questions on the GMATclub and noted the concepts down in my Error log learning.

Hi Ankur,

Congratulation for your score and all the best for your applications.

I want to know which source you used for RCs?

I have general question on RC.
1. Daily how much RC you were solving?
2. How you gained accuracy in RC?
3. How you were learning from your mistakes?
4. How you were timing yourself?
5. You were completing RC in set of 4-5? Or you were completing one RC and then after reviewing it you were moving to next RC?

** Overall strategy question
6. How you build the stamina?
7. What you did to remain focused during the exam? It is very hard to remain focus especially in last hr of the exam and that is the most crucial hr.
8. What was your daily routine to approach Verbal section? -- I am planning to solve daily 4 RCs and on alternative day solve CR and SC by timing myself. What do you suggest on this approach?

Sorry for lots of questions, but you inputs would be very much helpful.

Thanks,
Chetan
