I understand that this question tests Like Vs As and for all the reasons stated as-vs-like-correct-and-incorrect-usages-133950.html E is correct. However, I believe there is pronoun error in A. Those refer to the DNA. Is this true as well ?

Yes, there is a pronoun issue in option A. "Those" is plural and can't refer to the singular noun "DNA".
