Hi, I noticed that Gmat has several repeated topics in gmatprep file, ogs, old papers, etc. Since i have no ideas about American history then pls guide me. I googled but i feel wiki doesnot help much. I would like to find some books ( I think they should be textbooks) to help me understand about American history ( from when Bristish came), about Native American, African American Slavery, The Great Depression, Civil War, Women's right, suffrage movement(origin and how developed....etc) Besides i would like to find some books which help me to understand Black Hole, the origin of Universe, Galaxy, etc Any thought. Thank you.

Hi When are you planning to write your GMAT? General reading is recommended strongly if time is a luxury. However, if you have less than two months to prepare, I suggest you limit your reading to existing RC passages within your prep material.
However, if you want to increase your knowledge of American History, then reading biographies or autobiographies of historical figures such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin etc. will be a nice place to begin.
Yeah, I agree that reading up on American History is probably not the best use of your time. I think reading scholarly articles is good, but not a textbook on American history. Arts and Letters Daily is a good resource for difficult articles and you can certainly find some History/Science ones on there that will be at the level of GMAT reading.

Hi ReasonGMAT@ I feel unwell when got blind about American history. Many passages come at some times of history then i keep thinking i need to know the process from starting to now. So it will be more easier for me. I feel my speed of reading is okay so i can spend unstopping 2-3 hours on reading a book to at least get basic infor. I google to find some articles but hopeless since i am poor at searching. Could you recommend any web ? Since your V is 47. Could you recommend any source ( theory- basic & practise) to deal w method of reasoning. Other topics i think i can handle. But almost did wrong or correct by guessing every single official question from og,gmat prep file etc. i know this type is rare but i donnt wana get it at the first questions of my exam then ruin all my Verbal . There is a chapter in Lsat bible but i feel too complicated and not neccessary.

Hi: Don't worry too much about vocabulary as long as you can identify keywords. Example: 1. If the author uses the keyword 'However', then you know that he is going to say something that is against the previous idea. 2. If the author uses the keyword 'For instance', then you know that he is going to give examples supporting his idea.
Learn to track the flow of information and don't get too caught up with the finer details.
Again I don't think you need to be reading up on background of US History, but if you want an overview (its a pretty detailed overview and will give you way more info than you need) you can try this link: https://www.sparknotes.com/history/
As for your question about "method of reasoning" are you talking about RC specifically?

Hi Reason Gmat, Thank you for the link. About MOR i mean CR not RC. Could u suggest?
The best thing I have found for CR strategy is the introductory section on LSAT Logical Reasoning questions in the beginning of the LSAT SuperPrep book (Logical Reasoning questions are the LSAT's version of CR). Its about 20 or so pages long, but it does a really good job of explaining how breaking down arguments into their component parts (evidence, assumption, conclusion) and it demonstrates, in my opinion, just how detail-oriented you need to be in analyzing the arguments themselves. You don't really need the whole book and even the section I am describing gets into some question types that don't really appear on the GMAT (like method or reasoning questions), but most of it applies and again seems to go further than anything else I have seen from GMAC itself or the major test prep companies.
Hope that helps!!!
