Given Information:

45% support A

55% support B

No one supports both or neither

Question:
Do we have enough information to determine how many people from both groups support heavy social media advertising?

Statement 1:

45% support A, and 58% support heavy social media advertising.

We know the overall percentage but lack the total number of people.
Insufficient.

Statement 2:

22 people support both B and heavy social media advertising.

However, we don’t know how many A supporters favor heavy social media advertising, nor can we derive it.
Insufficient.

Combining both statements:

Even with both data points, we cannot determine the number of A supporters who favor heavy social media advertising.
Insufficient. Answer: Option E.

Why can't we have option C as an answer? We can set up the matrix and can get the answer.

Favor Social Media
Don't Favor Social Media
Support A 0.58(0.45N) 0.42(0.45N)
Support B 22 0.55N - 22
Total0.58(0.45N) + 2272.73

At a corporate board meeting, two advertising ideas A and B are presented such that each board member supports one but not the other. Of the board members, 45 percent support idea A and the remaining support idea B. How many board members are in favor of advertising heavily in social media?

Let total baard members be T
Gives A = .45*T, B = .55*T AUB=0
No. of adv in social media (HASM) ?

(1) Of the supporters of Idea A, 58 percent are in favor of advertising heavily in social media.
This only gives partial number of HASM = .58*.45*T, but no info about HASM in group B

(2) Of the supporters of Idea B, 22 are in favor of advertising heavily in social media.

This gives HASM in group B = 22

(1) and (2)
This only gives total HASM = .58*.45*T + 22

But as total number of Board Numbers is not known
Hence in sufficient

We'll need to know N for us to be able to the exact numbers. N has not been provided b either of the statements
