Sajjad1994 Explanation to #1? How to reject all the other answer choices?

SreyaSanghai
Please provide explanation for the first question

OA to question 1 (E) seemed to be flawed. Although i have changed it to (C) [the most suitable among the available 5] but i am not satisfied with it too. Better not to bother more for it.

Cheers

1. In the first line of paragraph 2 (“Geologically speaking …Labrador”), the author implies that

(A) Baffin Island is huge, but it is dwarfed by its surroundings - SPECULATION

(B) at one time, Baffin Island was joined to the Canadian mainland - We know that Baffin is an Island surrounded by glaciers and the Arctic. We also know that in the last decade, hunters have noticed the glaciers melting, but there is no mention of the island being connected to the Canadian mainland (SPECULATION)

(C) glaciers separate Baffin Island from the mainland of Canada - "Canadian shield" ; "surrounded by glaciers that extend" - the island does not extend to any land body

(D) a single glacier helped to carve out Baffin and Labrador Islands - SPECULATION

(E) Baffin Island is physically similar to some parts of northern Michigan - SPECULATION

----
The above is based on my understanding.
