3. Beginning in the 1950s, popular music was revolutionized by the electrification of musical instruments, which has enabled musicians to play with increased volume. Because individual musicians can play with increased volume, the average number of musicians per band has decreased. Nevertheless, electrification has increased rather than decreased the overall number of musicians who play popular music professionally.
Which one of the following is most strongly supported by the statements above, if those statements are true? (A) The number of amateur musicians who play popular music has decreased. (B) Most professional musicians are able to play both electric and nonelectric instruments. (C) The number of professional musicians in some bands has increased. (D) The total number of professional bands has increased as a result of electrification. (E) Many professional musicians play in more than one band.
this was hard for me, anyone care to break it down? i'll post the OA in the morning, that is when i wake up.

Answer is D for sure. It's a resolve the paradox saying that the no. of musicians per band is decreasing of electric instruments. In spite of this, the overall no. is increasing. This can only be true if the no. of bands increase.
Nevertheless, electrification has increased rather than decreased the overall number of musicians who play popular music professionally.
Which one of the following is most strongly supported by the statements above, if those statements are true? (A) The number of amateur musicians who play popular music has decreased.[Weakens as it supports the decrease of number of ppl]
(B) Most professional musicians are able to play both electric and nonelectric instruments.[Weakens as it doesnt contribute to addition of number of pl whereas it point sto decrease of ppl playing music]
(C) The number of professional musicians in some bands has increased.[It says "some"]
(D) The total number of professional bands has increased as a result of electrification.[Nails the argument by providing an evident reason for increase in ppl , solves the paradox. ]
(E) Many professional musicians play in more than one band. [If many ppl play in more than one band tthen ppl shud be less not more , hence weakens]
Got this one pretty quickly. Here was my reasoning;
If the number of musicians in bands have decreased but the total number of musicians has increased, it be strong supporting evidence if the total number of bands increased. This would mean there would be more bands to empass the increased amount of musicians.
C states 'The number of professional musicians in some bands has increased' where is it stated by what number, and the constraint in this option is not that total number of bands has not increased. so logically this option should not be eliminated.
If the average number (of musicians in a band) goes down, the only way the total number of musicians will increase is if total number of bands increase. Hence D.
