Hi all,
I was admitted to Berkeley Haas' MBA/MPH and MIT Sloan's MBA. I am trying to make a decision and would appreciate some advice!
Here is some context:
I am from Europe, working for McKinsey now. I have deep passion for healthcare and my post-MBA goal is to come back to Europe and start a healthcare startup. In the long-term, I also see myself working in public health/health systems.
My thoughts on pros for each school:
Haas:
1) Proximity to Silicon Valley, with 2 internship opportunities in startups during the2.5-year MBA/MPH program
2) MBA/MPH program: it would deepen my healthcare knowledge and would give credibility in the industry
3) California: I lived in California before and really love the state, including the weather and hiking/surfing/skiing etc.
Sloan:
1) MIT brand and network in Europe is quite strong
2) Boston: great biotech and healthcare hub
3) Flexible MBA curriculum and healthcare certificate and E&I track
What do you all think? I'd be grateful for your thoughts!

The dual degree sounds pretty sexy ... and ... Haas is rated a bit higher than Sloan (at least in the GMATClub's full-time MBA Ranking -- see below for a link).

Would you graduate in Dec then from the Haas dual degree or is it April/May? And more like 3 years rather than 2.5?
One concern and consideration is cost and debt if you are thinking of doing a startup unless you have funding lined up or feel it would be pretty easy to lineup.
What do you want the MBA program to actually give you? What is the goal? Is it to learn skills? Is it to see how start ups work? Is it to try to find funding or potentially start up partners? A mix of these?
From the standpoint of reputation I agree that MIT will be a stronger name for Europe with more credibility, including biotech. I feel Haas’s network is more regional.
