Hi kvakhil,

The process of applying to (and ultimately attending) Business School will require a big investment of time, money and energy on your part, so you really should make sure that the Programs that you apply to match your career goals/needs. There are a variety of factors that go into selecting the Schools that you'll apply to, so here are some things to consider:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.

It's okay if you don't have answers to any of these questions just yet, but you really should try to define all of the important variables in terms of your goals, so that you can tailor your entire approach to getting into the best School that matches what you're looking for.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

kvakhil - A total of 160 schools accept GMAT in India. However, a score of 700 may not be very competitive given your work experience. Also, most of the schools that accept GMAT do so for entry into the executive MBA programs, which require many more years of work experience, sadly. The mba.come link at the bottom contains the names of all the 160 schools in India that accept GMAT. I have provided you link to an existing GMAT Club asset that you will find very helpful. Lastly, please post your complete profile on the "Ask Admission Consultants" forum, to get free profile reviews. Honestly, it is almost impossible to judge a candidate based on two components: GMAT Score and number of years of work experience.

DisciplinedPrep :- Hello, You mention that "a score of 700 may not be very competitive" - Can you elaborate on that. I am looking for an Indian University as well - particularly ISB. What would be the competitive score given that I have 9+ years experience. Not sure if this is the right area to ask you, though it would really help if you can answer that.

Thanks,
Shameek

If you’re considering MBA colleges in India, it really depends on what you’re targeting location, placements, ROI, or brand value. The usual top names are IIMs, XLRI, SPJIMR, MDI, etc.
But if you’re open to options beyond the metros, Eastern India has some solid B-schools too. For example, IMI Kolkata has been building a strong reputation in recent years. It’s part of the IMI family (Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar), has good infrastructure, decent placements with firms like Deloitte, PwC, Amazon, and an active student community. For someone wanting exposure in that region, it’s definitely worth shortlisting.
