Could anyone suggest whether following sentence is wrong:

Covid-19 presents stark choices between life, death and the economy.

This I found in The Economist.

This sentence is correct as it is.

Let's consider this structure first

Covid-19 presents stark choices between X and Y.

What is X in the original sentence?

life, death. As per the original sentence life, death is treated as one entity.

What is Y in the original sentence?

The economy.

So, the sentence is correct as it is.

Below is the link to a short video on usage of between and among on GMAT.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgXJl7DG_4A

Hope it helps.

How did we justify that life and death are one entity?
the sentence written as below migh have justified usage of between.
Covid-19 presents stark choices between the life and death and the economy.

I think the context of the sentence requires treating life, death as one entity.

Else the writer would have chosen to write the sentence as you wrote: Covid-19 presents stark choices between the life and death and the economy.

Going by the topic name,I think the creator of this post was confused as to why between was used and not among as there are more than 2 elements. I addressed that issue.

Would be interesting to see if someone can reproduce an official question that uses between, when more than two entities are involved.

Of course, there are many official sentences that use among, when more than two entities are involved.

For example:

In archaeology, there must be a balance among explaining the value and workings of archaeology, revealing the mysteries of past and present cultures, and promoting respect for archaeological sites.
