Congrats to all those who made it off the waitlist!

Feel like I'm the only one on this forum who didn't get the call yesterday :(... I'm just completely exhausted, I gave the application everything I had, then sent in 2 letter updates, the video (which 2 Booth alumni, including my interviewer thought would seal the deal), and also got a letter of support from my interviewer (i didn't ask, he volunteered!). I know that at this level (and my demographic - Indian Male), it's probably minutae that differentiate successful candidates from others, but it still stings bad!!
Even after all that I put in, am I not good enough for Booth? I must be, 'coz I'm on the waitlist. Then what more do I need to bring? I know its too early to tell (don't even know if I'm wait listed again yet) but this whole process has just left me so completely drained - and now I'm in that Twilight Zone where I'm seriously doubting my own abilities.

Sorry for the rant folks, but needed to get it off my chest somehow. I've just been completely distracted all this week, and not getting a call doesn't really help the cause. Not that getting the call would have made much difference (would have been more distracted!) but you know what I mean.

Hey, cheer up. It sounds like you definitely put in a lot of work on your app + additional materials more so than some others who got off the waitlist. MBA admission process is a crap shoot so don't take it personally. I am on the same boat (Booth R1 waitlist) and I didn't receive a call yesterday. Wherever you go, it's what you make out of it more so than where you go. You, me and everyone knows that even H/S stamped MBA doesn't promise success down the road. It must be tough but brush it off and move on. Tomorrow is another day and try to make the best out of what you have. Let's face it. I am sure you know many qualified dinged candidates with better work exp, gpa, gmat, and etc. than an avg. Booth admits. Things happen. Don't take it personally. When it comes down to picking ppl from a very talented pool, schools have all the luxury to pick and choose to make the class as diverse as possible. That surely doesn't mean you are less qualified than others who got in... it's just that the mix didn't go in your favor - that's all. Keep charging!

Thanks for that pep talk :). Just got a mail from Chicago - Ding. Some closure to the process, though not in any way I would have liked. Anyhow, this is just all the more incentive for me to come back guns blazing next year (if, Heaven forbid, Tuck and Berkeley also spurn me, that is).

You'd think that after being dinged twice over the last 2 years, I'd give up and move on - what can I say? I'm one determined son-of-a-b#$% who does not take NO for an answer. 2011-Dinged w/interview. 2012-Dinged after waitlist. 2012/13 - Admit?

On another note - Good luck to all those who are still on the waitlist!! Hope you have good news this year :) If not, do not despair - you're welcome to join the Booth 2013 - Calling All Applicants thread - I might even be thread master :D

R2 WL joining this thread. Booth's WL process looks like a whole application process in itself. Additional materials, more letters of recs, updates to candidacy essays, school visits and a 90 sec video?? Sweet mother. Alrighty, let's get this party started. I quickly trolled through the thread and it seems like there's a lot of work ahead of us.

Any advice on how successful WL candidates reached out and maintained contact with adcoms? Did any adcoms offer guidance ? Anyone tried to receive feedback on their WL application so that they can address those weaknesses in additional material?

Does anyone know how many letters of recommendation are appropriate? I know literally at least 10 people that are either current Booth students or alumni as well as U of C tenured faculty in the College that could write personal accounts of my candidacy. I'm envisioning a Miracle on 34th St. Santa Claus scene right now.

Yeah, I might do that too. Been there twice so far - once for the interview and then again in early February. Are you looking to put down your deposit elsewhere? Stern's deadline is coming up for me ...

Getting into a top B-school is a b!#ch, isn't it? Flying out to Booth again and get more awkward face time and same old emails with adcoms + more video and more rec letters... what a sh#tsh$w... I feel like no matter what you do on that extra stuff, the ultimate final decision boils down to demographics and what % of admits with your background decides to attend somewhere else over Booth.

However, good luck everyone!!

WL'ers who really want Booth over other school(s) that they have gained admissions to... don't lose hope as a lot from R1 WL got admitted yesterday.

I was wait listed after applying in round 2. I love this school, definitely my top choice, but yesterday was so emotionally exhausting! I put my all into that application.

My GMAT score could be a little higher, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of time to retake. Should I instead focus on the materials? How many additional recommendations should I get? I have already had two people offer to write them.

R2 WL. Does anyone know how much harder it is to get in off the waitlist as a R2 vs. R1. Also, how important is it to revisit the school?
