I was waiting on waitlist since Round 2, and in parallel was accepted to LBS.

So I decided to go to LBS, paid deposit, and 3 days ago put to Chicago form that I can wait only by yesterday. Yesterday I received refusal. Therefore my understanding that if you really want to have a chance to go to CB, put to the form that you can wait till the end.

Leon - I don't think that is true. I said I needed a decision last week, but was asked Monday to remain on the waitlist. BTW I declined... Got to move on but for future waitlisters - I don't think there is a game going on or right answer on the waitlist form.

my opinion is that they rejected all international applicants and kept Americans in the waitlist because of visa issues.

Maybe. By the way, I also received proposal to remain on the waitlist (after previously receiving "declined" status)

Yes but Canadians don't need student visas so this could make sense

Random Walk is the week of August 18. It isn't a mandatory event, although most of the class participates. It is not part of the school year. The date that marks the beginning of the academic year is Sept. 5, which starts orientation for 1st year students.

I think this is it. Got this email update from Kurt today:

"I wanted to get back to you as I promised. At this point there has been no significant movement on the waitlist. We are still oversubscribed. There is always a remote chance that we could go to the waitlist before the start of orientation in September but I know you have other decision to make and the chances of a waitlist move decreases by the day."

out of curiosity, was this in reply to something you wrote them or did you receive this out of the blue?

Not out of the blue. We had been in touch over the last couple of months or so. Around mid-July he told me that they'd have a better understanding of the situation by the end of the month (July).

That is just great. I am also still on the waitlist. I like how Kurt says chances decreases every day as if there was a chance and as if he was disappointed.

For all it's worth, Kurt also mentioned that last year they made the last waitlist conversion in mid-August. Two years ago it was a couple of days before the classes started!

sent a quick email to adcom to enquire about any movement and got a ding letter... followed by an email saying there had been no movement and they weren't expecting any. i didn't really have any hope left, but now that's is all done, i wish it had happened earlier...
