The scope for Sales/BD roles is immense, and this is one profile which isn't limited to graduates from only Tier A institutes like you would see in some Core Finance roles.
So the way you would see in India is that large FMCG companies and MNCs would recruit people as a Management Trainee for a year, have them travel and cover various territories in all four regions of the country and then come back to one, ideally helping them gain a lot of perspective as well as prepare them for perhaps leading a division in the future.
Also, going by the Startup trends in the country and new technologies or processes coming into the picture, companies do require a strong sales team to not only educate prospective customers but also help influence the behaviour in the long run!
