I reckon it is yet another way of increasing yield. With a very early deadline, they can bet their R1 applicant pool this year is more serious about Ross than that of the previous years. With a Nov 1 deadline, people would apply to HBS/Chicago/Wharton/MIT etc before throwing in an app to Ross since the deadline is later. The best among this group of people when they get into the M7 usually give up their admit to Ross. For instance, helg applied to other schools and threw in an app to Ross as an after thought. In the end he got into GSB and gave up on Ross.

By advancing the dates up, candidates will be more self-selecting and as a result Ross may end up with an even higher yield.

It looks like they have advanced the R1 deadline by about 3 weeks.

Yeah, I saw that too. Anybody has any opinions on 'Why'?

Hmmm...true. But did Ross really need to do this to improve yield? I thought we had a pretty high yield already. Also, bunching the date between the biggies such as HBS, Wharton, etc., the number of applicants will decrease which in turn will lead to decreased selectivity.

It could also be to account for an increase in apps maybe. I think Ross last year sent out invites till about mid Dec- with a possible increase in apps, they might be trying to space them out better.

Ok- I just confirmed that the June 9th deadline is for "waiver by request" related courses. I registered for the accounting pre-term, the one starting on Aug 11th.

KK and Ncp- are you guys going on an M-Trek?

yeah moving is so much fun :)

Did you guys receive a confirmation regarding the accounting class? I remember registering, but I have not received a confirmation .... should I be worried?

also... I have checked and our health insurance doesn't start untill September 1st ... so what is everyone doing about short-term health insurance?

I didn't get confirmation either.

I ended up volunteering for the severance package at work, so I get health benefits for 6 months after my end date.

@Dosa: I won't be doing the M-Trek, but I will be doing the A-Trek (alterna-Trek). Why don't you guys join up for that? The most likely destination will be Traverse City (pretty close) and I'm sure you guys can bring your spouses along too.

I decided not to go with the school insurance since I could get an individual plan much cheaper and I don't need a premium plan just something with some basic coverage and prescription drug benefits.
