to all those who are accepted reapps,
i was recently dinged off the early decision waitlist. since i'm planning on re-apping, i'm wondering if you guys have any tips/advice?
i will retake my gmat, but i'm not sure how i can really substantially improve the other areas of my app. i have a feeling i was dinged for my low gpa. i had a 710 gmat (twice) but think i can improve to at least a 730.
my main concern is the essay. they say restate my goals, but how much did you guys reuse from original essay #1 or did you completely rewrite the entire thing? what kind of additional insights did you add? the additional essay is really stumping me at this point.
thanks!
My re-app strategy:
* My goals were left the same
* My GMAT/GPA were left the same
* I took some additional quantitative coursework to shore up that part of my background
* I showed a lot of achievements at work over the last year and went into them in the essay
* I took on some extra-curriculars over the last year and highlighted in the essay those as well
* I continued to reach out to members of the CBS community and mentioned those interactions, and also how/why they led me to realize that CBS is the perfect program for me
The re-app essay is difficult because you have 750 words to re-state your goals, cover what's changed, and why you want to go to CBS. You have to be succinct and present the right content with your limited space.
I submitted my app within the first week they were accepting them in August. I was interviewed last year in Regular Decision, and this year my interview was waived and I was admitted in early October.
