Angelwrath, I am no expert, but I think Columbia likes to see that you love the school . So submitting later than most other applicants , if unexplained , may suggest that you were busy with other schools (like, god forbid, that other top school known for finance). But I would think that once you justify why your application was delayed you will get an fair evaluation irrespective of when you submit.

I am in the same boat. I am thinking about applying to Columbia now. Have I reduced my chances of getting in by not submitting before the scholarship deadline ?

I know someone who got into Columbia last year and he submitted toward the end of February. He got zero scholarship/fellowship money, but he was accepted. It definitely reduces your chances because it is a rolling admissions process (a.k.a. they go through your applications in the order in which they are received, which is relatively unique to the top b-schools), but if you're interested in applying, I don't think now (mid Jan) is too late. I think once you start getting towards mid-February, I think it's starting to get riskier.
