I think that both groups could be right here - the emails could be both a sign of an admit and a sign of nothing.

It is clear that the GMAT verification emails were sent in error. For those who did receive them, it is logical that it could be a sign of an admit. However, without knowing how their notification system works, I think it is possible that they could have recognized their error and made the correction so that no more emails went out, admit or deny. It is also possible that the error could have been made by a single admin office employee who was responsible for only a portion of applicants.

Until there is reason to believe that hundreds of these emails went out today, I wouldn't lose hope.

Stop being sane and reasonable. Can't you see that people are panicking here?

By the way, the GMAT score confirmation email just says thanks for sending your report and "Whether you're putting the finishing touches on your application or if your application has already been submitted, we encourage you to continue to engage with us." There's even a link to "unsubscribe" from future Chicago Booth emails.

So, while the timing is certainly a bit eyebrow-raising, the message itself is innocuous enough. I tend to agree with jmad1983 that we shouldn't read too much into the emails. It'll all be clear by the 16th. Good luck and have a great forum-free weekend!

So strange- does that mean those that didn't get it have been removed from the database? Should I keep speculating?

I did not get the email. Was it at 9:05 like always?

Doesnt the system batch everything for the day and send It out at 9:05? The next morning?

This could just be linked to any updates made yesterday ( ie who went to committee for decision). If you were admitted straight after the third review it would seem you had been already in the system and verified ( unless 300-400 of these went out today-then us no email people are in trouble :( )

Any database people in here have any thoughts?

I think it would be helpful if we figured out one thing:

Of those who did NOT get the e-mail. When did you send your official GMAT scores to booth?

I sent mine as one of the 5 schools you can pick for free when you take the GMAT. So it went in September (the date of my latest GMAT).

Also, can someone who received the e-mail post the message? It would be an interesting read for those of us who did not get it.

I received the email today as well...but my score was verified on 2/16. I guess we will find out on Tuesday to see if this conspiracy theory is true or not. This weekend is definitely going to be hard for all of us...good luck guys and gals.
what's your profile, oski?

Oh no! This feels like the onset of a crazy round of speculation by all gmatclubbers. Having gone through the same on the Ross thread, I am almost tempted to go "offline" for the next week

lol, I can't deal with another Ross-like glitch scenario again...even having the most seemingly undesirable situation (no glitch links at all) I was called and admitted. So I am done speculating from here on out. Doesn't do us any good anyways

I ordered an official report before I submitted my application on Jan 5th. It was verified on 2/16; I did not get an email.

So I couldn't help myself and I looked up the profiles of everyone who we know either got the email or didn't get the email. It's kind of hard to draw conclusions just based on the stats. They look relatively even.

Super small sample size, so this is speculation just like everything else on this thread. But of the active post-ers today, it's about a 50/50 split, which is the percentage you would expect for admits. Tues/Wed cannot come soon enough.

One thing I just thought of - wouldn't they want to verify waitlists just as much as admits? I think most people will either get admitted or waitlisted.

We can't read anything into this. An email could mean waitlist, admit, or some UChicago undergraduate that makes $8/hour screwing up his work/study arrangement.

Also, there's no reason to believe that we won't see the other half of emails come out monday or tuesday.

And finally, let's not forget that a few years ago Booth sent admit emails to ALL of their applicants accidentally. Their system is far from perfect.

Did anyone receive an email from admissions saying that your official GMAT score has been received? I sent in my scores on 1/6, this seems really late.

I think this is a marketing email from Booth. I received it on my email address that I had used to register for the GMAT and not on the one I used for my Booth App. I am pretty sure it doesn't imply ding/admit/WL. Have a great weekend y'all!

That would also explain why the 'Unsubscribe' information was in the email. Thanks salescowboy.

Still not sure why some people got this e-mail and some didn't though.

I'm very nervous right now. I did not get the email. It seems very crazy to me that only some received the email. Surely, there is a reason for this. I cannot chalk this up to randomness. Maybe Tuesday when the calls start trickling in, we will have a better idea.
