Received the call at 1:00 PM Central. Actually a very pleasant chat. Also got some $$$. So I guess that seals the deal for me.
My "pure" stats: GMAT:640/GPA:3.7/Summa Cum Laude/Economics/Male/International/28/5 Years Top-5 Strategy Consulting Firm. So considering all the stats I see in this blog, I would say that I am a pretty much "average" candidate, if not, a weak one. After all, how could someone compete with a 640 GMAT?
My "real" stats: Born and raised in Mexico City. I come from a humble family (none of my parents have a formal education), somehow studied in the best schools in Mexico with full-ride scholarships. I started as an analyst at a major strategy consulting firm and went up the ranks to the Associate level without an MBA, worked all over the orb, offered a relocation first to New York City and then to Chicago. On a fast-track to manager, and still without an MBA. Loved the application process, particularly the blank pages. Got 5 referrals from students, or more accurately, my friends. I love the idea of flexibility in the curriculum...I would hate to take the same econ classes I took at my undergrad.
Guys...if you think in "pure" stats...chances are that you are not getting the picture at all. A 750 GMAT or 4 WE tells me few things if anything at all or for the sake of this process to the Adcom.
Good luck to all. If you believe you are a strong candidate and wrapped a strong application and conveyed a good fit with Booth, you will get in. Do not worry too much, the decisions have already been made and now they are only shooting calls. Lastly, the call process is entirely random it depends on the order which your application was reviewed, so do not worry too much.
