To those who havent received calls, do not be soo pessimistic yet. Even last year we had applicants who neither received a call, missed a call, got a voicemail nor an email and they were still admitted at the decision deadline. Just keep being patient and in a couple of hours you would know where you stand. DOnt just lose all hope yet....I did not get a call or an email so im in the same boat and i am truly hopeful. I believe in my essays, recommendations and my interview. So lets all relax. BTW, only a handful of the total applicants are GC members and according to Critical Reasoning 101 (insert laugh here), the sample size may not be totally reflective of all applicants. I hope that this piece can render some hope to those already feeling dejected.

R1 WL here. My waitlist letter has now changed to one that has a decision date of March 24th!? I checked below and it's the form letter from last year (2010). Anyone else see this? It's a cruel journey to a ding, through the WL of 2010.

Posted from my mobile device

did u get that letter in a mail from ad com?? or on booth app page??

That is truly random. I don't see it. Are you sure you aren't messing with us? Cut and paste it and attach a screenshot please?

I would have thought that the adcom would have prioritised calling all the r2 admits yesterday (that has to be at least 300 calls). Maybe they'll contact the WL admits today?

I doubt it. Two WL candidates from R1 got called last night as reported on this forum. No reason why they'd have left anyone for today. Quite a dismal outcome this year based on what we can see on this thread - 2 of about ~40 R1 WL converted. Last year it was 10 out of 20!

Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker (though I don't get in too often) I got the call yesterday at 430 cst! I Was leaving work at the time, turned the computer back on to let people know but had no idea what my password is! So I couldn't send this email. I just wanted to say 2 things:
For those still waiting: don't loose hope, I know for a fact that people got in in round 1 without a call, email, or voicemail!!
For next year applicants reading this looking for hope: I got called pretty late in the day, but I got in (with money). the adcom hinted that (at least she) was going through an alphabetical list (many people wondered so I though it was worth saying)
Anyway, best of luck to everybody, and hopefully I'll see many of you there!

with 40% surge in r1 deposits that was kind of expected....not so happy ending

R1 deposits may have been up but the yield was still only 75-80%. That might be more than Booth were expecting but it's not enough to fill a class!

The other thing to remember is that there are quite a few R2 decision days due in the next couple of weeks. As people get admits to other schools and withdraw from Booth more people will come off the WL.

Does anyone know if the school will wait till R3 decisions to take more people off the waitlist or will they do it on a rolling basis from now onwards into the summer as admitted students who leave Booth to go to HSW etc.?

I checked again. The proof of the pudding lies in the name of the person under the letter. Its Rose, not Kurt Ahlm. I think it's just a system glitch btw.

booth's yield was not as high as 75-80% in previous years...it was closer to 67-68% {pls correct me if i am wrong..}.. the spike in yield over last 2 yrs increased the class size from 550 to 590 .. so i still believe that Booth's dominance in mba rankings has led to this surge {actually its gud for school}... and lower conversions of WLs...

and yes school will continue to wait till r3 ..one of my frnds got off the list during r3..{she was indian}

How does the waitlist work. If I am waitlisted today, does that mean I will get a final decision on the R3 decision date (May 18)? If so I guess I am essentially applying in R3 which makes things pretty unlikely.

suppose achool receives 100 apps {30 in r1, 60 in r2 and 10 in r3} and there are 40 seats to be filled...

during r1 school admits 15, WLs 5 and rejects 10 .. out of 15, 12 accept the offer {80% yield} ...

during r2, school will review 60 r2 + 5 R1 WLs... while reviewing these 65 apps, ad-com will try to create an ideal class... WLers are considered at par with other 60...now say, out of 65, 32 were offered a place {30 r2 candidates and out of 5, 2 WLers make it} .. out of these 32, 24 accept {75% yield} ... and in r2 8 were WLed {this might or might not include r1 WLers}... already 36/40 seats are filled...during R3 they will review 10 r3 + 8 WLed = 18 apps..and try to fill remaining 4 places...if after R3 deposits ad-com feels it will fail to fill up 40 seats it will finally absorb the short fall from WL....
