R1 WL: Denied.

I didn't make much of an effort to work my way off of the WL, so my result probably isn't a good indication of the typical success rate for WLers. For those that did make the effort, but didn't get the admit call, I think this was just a tough year for WL. The increased yield in R1 offers was bound to make this conversion more difficult.

Waitlist for me too :(

Although not sure what it means for Indian/international applicants. Not sure if there is any hope left for me?

Ringa, a Booth student told me once about a friend (international) who was waitlisted even past R3. He had actually been admitted at Sloan, but wanted to go to booth, so he called them everyonther day to push for his candidacy and eventually got in! (and VERY close to matriculation)

ps. Im not trying to encourage everyone to call the admit office every day! but their is hope for waitlisted internationals

Since you mentioned "working your way off the WL", I have a question: If you don't have any material change in work responsibilities or other status, are there things you can do to move up the waitlist or improve your chances of being admitted?

Waitlisted again. It's interesting to note that the decision letter doesn't mention that the decisions will be made along with the round 3 decisions. The R1 waitlist letter specifically mentioned the round 2 decision date as the waitlist decision date (if I'm remembering correctly).

You are correct, but the waitlist email I just received says decisions will be released with R3.

Quote:
Your application to the University of Chicago Booth School of Business has received the careful consideration of our Admissions Committee. While we are impressed with your application, we are unable to provide you with a final decision at this time and will place you on our waitlist for future consideration. I want to assure you that being placed on the waitlist signals our sincere interest in your candidacy.

This year, our admissions process was highly competitive. While Chicago Booth is grateful to have so many talented students seeking to join us in Fall 2011, we are simply not able to admit all of our most qualified candidates at this time.

During the coming months, the Committee will review waitlist candidates for admission as a part of our Round 3 evaluation process. Decisions will be released as part of our Round 3 process on May 18. While we hope to enroll as many waitlist candidates as we can at that point, the possibility does exist that some students will continue to be on the waitlist into the summer.

You are more than welcome to visit Chicago Booth at any time, though this is not necessary and will not directly impact your admission decision. In the meantime, we ask that you stay in touch should you choose to make other plans and no longer wish to be considered for a spot in the Class of 2013.

Every year is different and dependent on the yield. It's practically impossible to predict.

My waitlist letter has several blank lines instead of the paragraph about the Round 3/summer decisions. I'm pretty sure the blank lines weren't there when I checked at 9:01 am central.

Ding for me.

I've tried to keep the spreadsheet up-to-date, but when 10+ people show up on decision day who have never contributed to the forum or input info on the page 1 spreadsheet, it's rather discouraging.

the WL official letter once you log in and the letter that is mailed to your email address are a bit different. The previous one is missing the part about the May 18th Round 3 decision part while the latter has it. Just a clarification.

Needless to say - WL.
