Spartan2011, I requested an interview and got an invite at the same time. That was funny.

Nets,

If you don't mind can you share your interview experience/questions? I have mine on the Nov 15th!

Sure.

I had a 50 minute on-campus interview and it was very relaxed. She (Adcom member) made me very comfortable with some initial chit chat.

There was nothing really out of the regular stuff, just the regular questions - walk through resume, why Mba, why Tepper, Teamwork experience, Leadership experience, Problems in teamwork situations, long and short term goals, weaknesses and strengths etc.

You will get all these questions at various online resources. My advice is just be yourself. Thats the best way to be passionate on the interview. Unlike some interviews, Tepper's is definitely not a stress one, so you can be very relaxed.

It really is hard to judge such interviews given the way they go well for everyone.

Best of luck for your interview, Try to have fun and it will be fun.

risin1phoenix,

Thanks for sharing your Pittsburgh experience. $750 a month rent sounds wonderfully affordable - especially given that my expectations of renting apartments are based on renting in the world's most expensive sites such as in London and in Tokyo.

Good luck to the fellow invited gmatclubbers! Good luck with your interview!

did you keep your "why tepper" all academic? For duke I kinda did that and it didn't feel awkward but not sure if I should've talked more about other 2ndary factors....

I definitely did not keep it all academic. A huge factor with Tepper is this small class size and close-knit community. Also career goals post MBA. I did not go on and on about the academic experience because there's a lot more to taking two years off for MBA than learning material facts.

yeah i am planning on mentioning class size but i guess that is tied to academics imo. Also i was gonna mention the hiring companies etc. Did you mention anything not as important like location etc?

Let me put it this way, when I visited, they strongly emphasized the community environment. I'm not just talking about class interactions, team projects, help with homework, etc. (although these are important). I thought more about the broader picture of how I will draw from and leverage the alumni base/fellow students both during the program and in my future endeavors. Maybe you want to be exposed to different cultural backgrounds, maybe you want to network with consultants, whatever it may be...

Citing recruiting companies is a good idea. I did this as well. The region isn't too much of a factor for me but by all means if it is for you. Particularly for a place like Pittsburgh (not really northeast or Chicago and not west coast), this may be a good selling point if you're really targeting that area.

I have my interview tomorrow (11:30 AM EST) and was going through some of the interview experiences posted. A little relaxed to know interviews are not 'so grilling'. :)

I have a telephonic interview and let's see how it goes.

Thanks for all inputs !

I interviewed before the deadline. All they had was my gmat and resume (so pretty much blind). My interviewer mentioned that he tends not to read applications to keep it objective, but from what I understand from others on this forum, some adcoms read your app. Based on that I would assume they know your entire app and execute based on whether or not it's blind (they should tell you at the beginning of the interview?).

For example, you may want to pull up with some fresh information if the interviewer knows your material e.g. a new leadership/teamwork example. Good luck!

I submitted my App on 25th. My status just reads 'Submitted'. No interview calls yet. I am wondering if the status gets updated to 'Send for review' or something like that. Or should I assume that it has been reviewed and no int calls for me
