Calling all 2011 CMU- Tepper Applicants

Done with my interview. The questions were:
1.Discuss your profile work & responsibilities,
2.How does a typical work day looks like for you
3. Why MBA , why now.
4. Why Tepper
5. Some leadership experience
6. Something that you will like to share from outside work.
8. What will be your biggest contribution to Tepper community.
9. What do you think you have to gain most out of Tepper community.
10. Any questions for me.

Krystal seems to be a nice person with a very sweet voice and you should have no problems understanding her. (if you are planning for a telephonic interview).

My interview lasted around 25 minutes. I asked Krystal about whats the next step and she said they will now review my application many times before coming out with a final decision. She also said that all decisions will be declared together and via email by 20th December.

hmmm the contribution/gain on community seems to be something i need to look into since i didn't think too much about that but have some ideas prepared... What is the "share from outside work" question about? is it hobbies or what? thanks!

This question is intended to know more about your life outside of work. You can discuss some community service or any other extra curricular activities that you have participated in. I took this opportunity to discuss a teamwork exp i have from one of my extra curricular activities and what i learnt from that exp.

Also add a question about your short term post MBA goals - and how do they fit in your reasons to do the MBA and long term objectives. I forgot to list this earlier.

Does anyone know when the school releases admit decision? I know that the official deadline for the 1st round is "by 20th Dec", but wondering whether they call the admitted much earlier than the deadline?

My interview was pretty standard, it went over an hour because we started chit chatting about other stuff. Either way no curveballs as far as questions....just the standard stuff.

Well as i said earlier, Krystal told me that they release all of them together, on the same date and you will get an email regarding the decision

@rangerp: Well, why do you worry if you have an interview invite ? I have received only one email , that requested for an interview. Nothing else till now.

Thanks! I found your earlier post. However, well...the "BY Dec 20th"...the "BY"-part is killing me, because basically that implicates that the decision will be released on or before 20th. I would love to know, if Tepper habitually releases their decisions before the "by"-date, decreasing the waiting anxiety among those of us who are WAITING!

hmmm, can't comment on what policy tepper has followed in the past, but i think when i had asked krystal, she meant 'on 20th Dec' and not 'by 20th Dec'.

Okay, now i've received a email from Dona which says my application is complete. It also clarifies all decisions will be out on 20th December.

I havent received any email but my app page says complete pending interview. As with many schools people are reporting about, ones status can say "submitted" up until the decision date.

Make sure you regularly check your spam, because mine was lying there until i took notice

My status page says "Submitted Date: 10/20/2010 12:15:00 AM EST. Stage 3: Credentials Received - Appication Under Review by the Admissions Committee"
And below that- "Application Status: Completed on 11/10/2010 2:55:00 PM". For the Employment record, it says "Unofficial". Is it the same for you guys who have received interview invites? Or are we supposed to send some official records? Let me know if its any different

Hello Tepper Applicants

I'm applying for R2...currently working on my essays...
I was wondering if someone knows how long they expect the essays to be. As far as I know, there is no length restriction for the first two essays ("Goals/Why MBA" and "Contribution to Tepper"). Therefore, any hints will help...

Tepper actually has a word limit: your essays should be 2 pages long, maximum. They also defines that the preferred font is 12, narrowly spaced.
