It looks like Round 1 decisions came out around noon. Only two weeks left...

I show the first admit this year at 3:00. Here is the link:
calling-all-2011-cmu-tepper-applicants-100733-280.html#p838669

Also, the first the previous year was at 4:20 apparently, so it seems a bit random, but more toward the afternoon...

Are there many R2 applicants who have their status as "Stage 3: Credentials Received - Appication Under Review by the Admissions Committee"? Or am I the only one remaining? :) I am still waiting for an interview invite. How about others?

Hey fellas,

I was wondering if you could give me some insightful advice on selecting an MBA between a U.S. and a Non-U.S. programs.

Some facts about the situation:

Carnegie Mellon Tepper (no $)
HKUST MBA (30% $)

My focus is in operations/finance and I don't mind working in Asia (I'm a U.S. citizen but originially from Asia)

Please help!

Thank you all in advance!

Anyone gone through the Kroll process yet for 2011? If so, do you know what they are verifying this year?

I think its the end of the road as far as R2 applicants are concerned. All the best for your other schools.

hey,
Guys I was in Pittsburgh in Sep'10, thats when I gave my interview. I then submitted my application in R2. My current status reads as follows - "Stage 3: Credentials Received - Appication Under Review by the Admissions Committee". Shouldn't my status be complete?

Any help on the above will be appreciated.

I think that's what it says for everyone once you move past the interview, and it reflects the fact that they're now about to make final decisions. I interviewed 3 weeks ago, and my status is the same.

I think it depends on your future career and where you want to settle down. I say this because your an US citizen, you have options, so if you want to settle down in Hong Kong or USA with some sort of international career between Japanese and USA companies(which are many notably Toyota, Suzuki,...) then it will suit you fine to do an MBA at HKUST and use the 30% scholarship on something useful. Keep in mind Japanese will value an MBA at HKUST higly more than Tepper. But if you arent looking for an international career, just want to do an MBA and return back to your country, then I would suggest you rathen take up Tepper.

Here are the numbers, from https://www.businessweek.com/bschools/ra ... ellon.html, for 2010

Applications (admitted and denied) to the newest class: 1,540
Applicants who were accepted to the most recent class: 27 %
Admitted applicants who enrolled in the newest class: 48 %
Applicants who were re-applicants from prior years: 5 %
Percentage of this year's reapplicants accepted: 26 %
Applicants wait-listed during the last admissions cycle: 251
Wait-listed applicants admitted for the semester to which they applied: 26
Applicant interviews are: By invitation only
Applicants (admitted and denied) who were interviewed: 72 %
Admitted applicants who were interviewed: 100 %

So you can calculate that the % admitted for those who interviewed is ~37%. I think it's probably slightly higher for those who were invited to interview, because of the policy that allows for self-initiated interviews in the fall, which might increase the percentage of people who are interviewed.
