Been lurking... my dates:

9/15 .submitted
9/16 .printed and under review
9/22 .invite to interview
10/3 .interview
10/7 .complete
Now waiting for THE call.....

I was at an information session at CBS last week and someone was admitted right there during the presentation. Has this been happening a lot? I wonder if the person knew before hand... but she did look very surprised. Maybe I should go to ALL CBS event... haaa.

Wow...that's amazing! So the adcom just called her name and told her she's admitted in front the whole crowd?

Yea exactly. Adcom called her to the front of the room and said: you're accepted. I should clarify that this was a spotlight on health care presentation and not an info session- i miswrote. From her reaction it didn't seem like she had been invited to it but I don't know. What a way to find out...
After seeing that I feel pretty nervous about my chances since I have been complete for weeks now and I RSVP'ed to the event.

I actually found out I was admitted at an info session event. I'd registered for it previously and did get an email confirming I would be there, but I didn't know beforehand I was admitted. A shock, albeit a good one, to get the news on the spot. In talking with Mary afterwards she mentioned that she had seen my app the previous weekend and would have delivered the news earlier but saw I was registered for the event. I'm guessing most of these event admits are applicants that have already been reviewed and admitted, but the official admit is postponed so it can be done in person. That said I wouldn't worry if you have been under review and RSVP'd, may just be that your app hasn't gone all the way thought the adcom.

CBS... give short a call... the rest can wait a few more days ;)

I too, feel like I don't know any of these names now... someone distracted me from the forums!

The first sign is an email from CBS stating that your application status has changed. You will be asked to sign in, and your application status will say that you'll be receiving instructions in 24 hours. Within those 24 hours, you get a second email explaining the interview process...

Thanks, guys!

Kind of shocked me into silence, especially after stressing over the application and waiting to hear for so long. After it registered what had happened I was just extremely happy and relieved.

Dear all J-term applicants, could you post messages for your admission when you get the call? and if you have not provided the data point before (submission, under review, interview invite, complete), please update. Let us try to gauge the admission office's timeline to distribute offers.

My feeling is that there is a large group of us who applied around deadline and now we should hear the news soon...

Hello,, Im a CBS ED 2012 applicant..
I got my interview invitation last thursday (10/19) and they provided me with a list of interviewers that are available in my location...
So I sent out my interview request to some of the interviewers..
Up until now I havent got any feedback from them!
The adcom strongly recommends an interview completed in two weeks since the invitation..
and it's already been a week..
I am allowed to contact only 9 interviewers.. and if I dont get feedback from ANY of them in the next 7 days, what should I do?? Should I contact the adcom and explain the situation so that they could give me an alternative to the adcom interview, i.e. phone interview with the adcom?
Anyone in similar situation?

^Yeah, I was in the same situation.

Have you contacted all 9 interviewers yet? If not, I would begin to contact the rest of them and if you don't hear back in the next 2-3 days, contact admissions.

They'll provide you with additional interviewers or arrange for a phone interview.

They only alum I could reach in my city was out of town on business for 3 weeks. I told admissions about this delay and they were fine with it. They actually offered me a phone interview, but I declined as I wanted to talk to someone in person.

I have received an email from CBS to inform HK info session. If I register, is it possible to have a spot interview then? Or I need to confirm with adcom beforehand?

Yeah, log into the admitted student's website (https://www4.gsb.columbia.edu/mba/admitted) and click 'Meet Other Students' on the left hand side of the screen. I haven't done this yet...but I know it provides several options for contacting current students.

You may need to pay your $6k deposit before having access to this section...I'm not sure.
