Still waiting for interview invite!

I'm one week after you and still waiting.
I was told yesterday by a CBS student that he thinks it usually takes international candidates (even if living in US) longer to get invites. Not sure if this has any merit.

Congrats Simkhovitch! This is why I was questioning NoggieViking's research -- this whole process took Simkhovitch 23 days, which is 5 fewer than anybody posted last year!

While I understand your point, I think the research has value in putting a lot of us at ease in terms on not hearing back. There is really no way to project timelines for this year, without using last year as a reference point. I think the information Noggie provided really allow us to gauge ourselves on a historical basis. Just my thoughts on the research...

so whats the earliest and latest calls have come in EST?! 10 AM to 8 PM or so?

Has anyone done this analysis or is this the next obsessive analysis that needs to be done by Short or myself or some other frequenter of this thread...

Most schools have less than 2-3% of candidates with engineering WE.

What do you consider engineering WE? Have you included engineers who manage teams and projects? I think it's too low. Could you explain a little bit more, please.

Thank you!

I am an engineer and work in a hardcore engineering services firm in the utilities sector. I got admitted yesterday...but I have to agree, the odds are against us.

I would not say odds are against engineers, I just think the overall pool of engineers is smaller. The same reason most people trickle out into IB and Consulting is because they started there to begin with.

2-3% of the class is admitted and I would bet that no more then 10% off the applicant pool is engineers. Coming from a technical major myself, I think part of the problem is most engineers are great at the quant stuff but suffer in the softer skills. This requires their essays to not reflect their abilities impacting the acceptance into schools.

The main reason I would say you have not seen many engineers get accepted, is because there are not that many that apply and even fewer on this board...

I don't know where my reply went, just typed one up. In any case, diggles, the research I did (I didn't do any research. I turned the data someone else had collected last year, into information for the rest of us to use), had a total of some 38 datapoints for ED Admits. The class is 600 (?) and I'm not sure what portion of it is ED, and certainly not sure what portion of what portion is on GMATClub forums.. In any case, it was not (nor was it presented as such) a complete set of data.. It was just those measly 38 datapoints, and I don't think it was a representative sample of the entire population. Some of the utility I drew from it was amongst other things that some highly qualified applicants had to wait excruciatingly long (>100 days) for their decision.. I never meant to present it as the truth.

Totally understood/agreed! I was just saying that maybe using last year's data isn't so helpful because it appears AdCom stepped up their speed. That's all...

Yes, Engineering with WE includes engineers who manage teams/projects (consulting/construction). You are correct, the stats are too low, but I agree with rgupta that the stats are low simply because the applicant pool is much smaller than finance or management consulting.

You're right. So in this case, it would be very interesting to know the acceptance rate in every group. For example, 2-3% of admitted students (from engineering WE) related to 5% of total applications would be much higher than global acceptance rate. Anyone has any idea of these figures?

Thanks!

It seems that most who got a call for the interview received it within a week or so after submitting their app. Is that inference accurate?
