It seems that most who got a call for the interview received it within a week or so after submitting their app. Is that inference accurate?

Not necessarily, actually. It's common, but as the two posts after you show, not always the case!

As much as I toil over numbers and get paranoid about the email, the call, etc., I feel like all of us should keep reminding ourselves that there's no formula to this process...

I agree - well said.

PS: 780 GMAT??? really?? nice!!

That's the impression I typically get from this thread. But last year's number show an average of 30 days, and even this year show very large variability (two J-term guys just got their invite after almost 25 days- congrats btw!!).

I think depends on when you submitted; WE and post-MBA goals; international vs. US, and many other factors.

Thanks guys. I understand it's not set in stone but it really does look like quite a few got the interview invite within a week of submitting the app. Not reading too much into the J-term posts because J-terms are probably evaluated differently.

Good luck to all!

I think that the only real pattern I've noticed is that those who submit near the deadline get backlogged on final decisions. Seems like a lot of people hear in a day or two following their interview, but this trend does not hold near the deadline, seems like it's more like 1-2 weeks depending on how late you interview based on last year.

As far as interviews though, a lot of the j-term people who submitted near the deadline got their interviews almost immediately, but lots of the ED people, and several j-termers seemed to hear several weeks afterward. For the ED's I would assume that delays in the interview are probably just related to the ridiculous number of apps to go through, plus they likely prioritize the J-term people first since they need to get those decisions back sooner before classes start.

Just my two cents take it for what it's worth.

Also just got the interview invite for J-term! Applied 10/3, under review 10/5, invited to interview 10/26

Finally, some movement for the J-termers. Hopefully there will be some acceptance calls forthcoming also. :-D Good luck with your interviews.

Missed a call this morning from what I later found was a Maine area code...got really excited for a second thinking it could be one of the adcom member's cell phones. No message though and nothing else the rest of the day. Still waiting anxiously, checking for missed calls often!

I got a call from an number I did not recognize and I got excited only to have it be a work call...FAIL!

Anytime my phone rings and its not a number in my phone book, I get excited when I answer. Last night it was the red cross. Damn my Luck!

Good luck to all the J-terms. Hopefully your timelines from now on are short and filled with good news so you can get out to NY before classes start.

Over the past few months I have been collecting people's ED application timelines (sorry J-Term-ers) that they posted (during free time of course!).

I basically just stole the 2011 threads document and have been entering everyone's info as they post it.

The data was manually collected so there could be errors. There is also the problem of people posting then disappearing, so there are holes in the data (just like any dataset).

As for the personal stats, I just took it from the first page. So, if you're name is hidden or you're not on roll call you won't see your info there.

Hopefully everyone finds this useful and can use it to see how other people's timelines have developed to augment last years dataset.

Currently, the sheet is sorted by submit date then username.

If there's anything else anyone wants to see, let me know and I'll attempt to add it. I (sadly) enjoy dicking around in excel and this keeps me occupied while I trade my US PA at night.

Best of luck everyone!

Whoa! Seems like I missed out on tons of adcom love and other activities! LOL

First, congrats to all the guys/gals who got in. Also, think someone asked abt an email from an Hermes clubber... I got one of those too about a week after THE CALL. I suspect they're getting busier now so it may take them a while to reach out.

Like many people on this forum, I am wasting time and energy over thing I cannot control. From Noggie's earlier post on last year's data, the average from Submit to Invite is 30 days but from the data provided by AmericaninAsia, the same application phase appears to only take about 10 - 15 days (just estimating).

On Columbia's site, it suggests waiting at least 3 or 4 weeks before contacting the admissions department. I am curious to know what type of information they would provide if I contracted them.

While I have tried to make myself feel better by rationalizing that my Oct 5th submission date is the reason I haven't heard from the adcom, clearly other people who did submit on Oct 5th have heard back.

Has anyone contacted Columbia to ask them about their particular application?

It also appears to me that many of the interviews have gone to people with IB experience. Again, I haven't done any specific analysis to support that assertion but I read many of the posts and it pops up more time than not.

Are there any other entrepreneurs out there in a similar situation? Is there any merit to the idea that the adcom allocates application to readers based on backgrounds or potential career paths? Even if this was the case, I know that CBS has a strong entrepreneurship program and as such would receive lots of applicants for this area.

Basically... I am frustrated and just want to be one of the 4 - 5 people who gets accepted out right without an interview. I know that's not going to happen as I live outside Atlanta, but still hopeful!
