hey guys, am submitting my CBS application in a couple of days, and had a couple of basic application questions: 
1. What's the difference between Entrepreneur/Owner and Entrepreneur/Small Business when entering the "Function" field in employment? 
2. When they ask for "Primary language", is that my mother tongue or the language I'm most comfortable with? 
3. Does CBS expect two different short term goals in Essay 1, that lead to the same long term goal? 
4. Is the GPA supposed to be rounded off to the nearest tenth or hundredth? 
 
I would appreciate any help with these, as I want to submit a "near-perfect" application! Thanks

for the deferred comrades and others, do you guys think that it would be beneficial to fly to NYC to talk to adcom in person tell them the update in application in person ? ...just my random thought....

You may be able to get in touch with the deferral lady and ask her to set up an appt to meet and discuss. From last year's thread, it seems some ppl also got a hold of admissions over the phone and got feedback that way. Can I ask what updates you have to your application?

Hi everyone,

I have one question on the Recommendation Letters. As required, one of the recommendation letters must come from the current employer (not like other schools). However, due to sensitive reason, could I get it from my previous employers instead? Will it significantly impact the consideration of candidacy? Thanks!

You're fine as long as you can adequately explain why you aren't using your current employer, and make sure that you replace the current employee rec with a rec from someone that will be able to give just as much insight. Make sure you replace the rec appropriately though. I'm self employed, so I had to use a rec from an investor as well as a rec from a supervisor from a previous employer.

Hard to say, but maybe it is less related to when you are invited to interview and more related to when you submit your application. Of those people who were invited to interview in November, I think most who received a decision submitted before October 5th for ED. Perhaps if you submitted right on October 5th, you had a higher chance of being deferred which reflects one aspect of 'rolling admissions'...this is just my musing on the topic though.

Has anyone who applied regular decision in November heard anything back yet? I know that's deep into Round 2 but since they review on a rolling basis I was just curious if any invites have been sent out.

You could be right. My thought process was that everyone who submitted before ED deadline has almost equal chance/timing of review. The timing of your interview invite, however, has more to do with the strength of your application as they would hold you longer if you are in the gray area. Superstar apps would get invites early on. The reason I know my app was reviewed early on and not closer to my invite date was because my LinkedIn page received a ton of hits few days after submission... (just a guess it must be from adcom since I normally get very seldom hits).

You are obviously a counterexample to my theory so congrats on the admit!

Submitted on 10/5. CBS asked me to retake the GMAT b/c although my score is valid now, it wouldn't be valid through the program start date (CBS' unique GMAT requirement). I took the GMAT again on 11/11, interviewed on 11/29, and accepted today. Relieved!
