1/26/2012: Waitlisted after interview. Can anybody comment on strategies to improve my chances of getting off the waitlist? Aside from an e-mail to the Adcom? Note that I am in Chile so actually going to the office is not in the cards. Also, how many people do they usually end up taking off the waitlist? I know it depends on the yield, but historically? Still kicking myself for not doing eary decision...

Sorry to hear that greengohome. When did you go complete, if I can ask? I think the waitlist policy varies school-to-school (some are absolutely against you sending them stuff, and it may actually count against you in some cases). I haven't heard anything specific from Columbia, so I'd just e-mail them with a very gracious letter expressing your interest, and also updating them on things you've been up to since the time of your application.

I'm in the same boat as you. They are pretty clear in the letter what you can/can't do.

I just got the call from CBS admissions - I'm in. Holy f*ck I can't believe it.
