I submitted my app on 1/3 and haven't heard anything yet. I'm hoping that this is good news, considering that a few people have already been dinged.

I'm trying to remain optimistic, as well--submitted 12/29 and no word yet!

Thanks! I'm not sure where it will be yet. I just got the status change email and saw that I had been invited to interview once I logged into the online app. It said I will receive an email with instructions, which I haven't received yet. Has anyone heard whether Columbia places a strong premium on visiting the campus? I've been to NYC many times and have been to the Columbia campus once before but never for a formal visit (this was several years ago before I even thought of applying to b-school). Is it important to go to campus or would a local alumni interview suffice? (Traveling is getting expensive!) Good luck to everyone still waiting!

The email said "The Admissions Committee has rendered a decision on your application to Columbia Business School." instead of "status changed" so that was a clue before I clicked on.

Well when did everyone get these mails???

loosing my mind... submitted 12/19 reco came in by 12/26 went under review 12/27 and has been in that state ever since then!!!!

I had applied for a toefl waiver too... had multiple reasons to ask for it including work in US/Uk for over 5 years and a previous expired TOEFL score... and havent been told if that was accepted!!!

If your TOEFL waiver wouldn't have been accepted the application wouldn't have gone under review...I had submitted app and repos came in but application status showed incomplete until I called and explained my situation and they granted me the waiver... You can always call them to be sure but if TOEFL would be missing your application wouldn't be under review....

wow good for you that your TOEFL waiver was granted over a small discussion...

as for me, i had called in august to ask columbia if TOEFL could be waived off they said YES, then i visited the school and asked how on the application should i say that TOEFL is waived off for me, first they denied saying it cant be waived off and then after reasoning with them ... i was asked to submit the request as part of my additional essay and also fax in the request.....

I had multiple reasons not to give TOEFL so just did what they asked me to do....

and yeah even i had to call in to ask them to move the status from incomplete to the next logical one......

well i guess will just wait... lets see hopefully its gonna be worth it...... fingers crossed, good luck to you to buddy

Thanks mate...good luck to you too.. the discussion wasn't that short. I attended ESCP EAP which is a french school but on year is in Oxford and all the coursework is in English and the school awards you a MSc, even though it's technically not an English school...I called several times to explain the situation and then after some deliberation on CBS' part they granted me the waiver, i guess they hadn't come across a situation like that before..

I am getting impatient as well, I cannot seem to understand why some apps take so long to get an invite and some get one fairly quickly, and what that says about the application...would love to see behind the process, waiting is not my strong suit...

hope you get an answer soon, hope all of us get an answer soon..and a good one too..

First, congrats! I asked admission officers the same question at live twitter chat on 1st Feb 2012. They said 99% of full-time interviews are held in local by alumni and very few are held on campus. Even New York natives interview off campus. I hope this may help.
