Had a missed call from UCLA on Friday night. Finally got in contact with them today. In with fellowship. Ranked them number 3.

Did you hear back from your #1 and #2? Did they admit you without offering the fellowship or did they not offer admission? I ask because I got in at Haas (my #1) with no fellowship and if UCLA (my #3) offers me admission I wonder if they'll offer it with the Fellowship. Thanks!

Tuition AND mandatory fees. From the website:

Consortium Fellowship

As a member of The Consortium, you may be eligible for a full-tuition fellowship. Last year, we awarded 380 fellowships covering full tuition and mandatory fees. Fellowship decisions are based entirely on academic and extracurricular merit.

At this point I think this might not be my year. Will probably reconsider other career options.

If you want an MBA, DO NOT give up! Take this as a learning experience. There are a lot of people that don't succeed their first time and come back, apply next year and kill it. I know PeterHAllen did that and got accepted into just about every school he applied to. He's a cool guy on the forum. Definitely contact him and see what he did to prepare for this year.

Good luck!

Yes - DO NOT GIVE UP! Waiting until next year may be your path if you choose, but you still have options this year:

1. Looks like you are still waiting for a few decisions - don't count yourself out.
2. Lots of great schools still have another round to go. Maybe you can get feedback from some of your other schools, and incorporate that into Round 3 and leverage a coach/consultant?
3. LOTS of people are being pulled off WLs... you have options!

Thank you both for your kind words. My motivation for getting an MBA was purely my own. I think if this current round doesn't work out, I'll get a job in the space I want and work my way up from there, and if they need me to get an MBA then I'll try again. I'm 24 and barely have 3 years of work experience, which I think counted against me. I'm by no means giving up- this was a learning experience I'll build off of.

Thanks everyone for your support!

don't give up hope on the WL - they didn't put you on there because they want to draw out a rejection process. They actually thought you were good enough for their class but don't have the space. I know for example it is likely that I will give up my spot at KF but I don't know anything for sure till i hear back from everyone. Most schools have the R2 deposit deadline around April 15, so you have a good chance then, lots of folks will be declining and there will be WL activity around that time.

You have so much time left! I'm glad you realize that. You're young-ish for business school, but recognizing that and going through this learning process NOW will set you up BEAUTIFULLY for the application season a year or two from now. Obviously, this application season isn't over and you still are very much in the game, but should you want to re-do this process in a couple of years, you'll be golden. Heck, I'm jealous, as I wish I had the foresight to do that. lol

This is a PSA to everyone, not just you: IF YOU GET WAITLISTED AT A SCHOOL YOU REALLY WANT TO GO TO, PUT IN THE WORK TO GET OFF THAT WAITLIST. I was waitlisted at a ton of schools last year (well, three, which isn't a ton, but you get the idea), and I failed to do what I needed to do to get myself off the waitlist because I figured I'd just reapply the following year. If you know you're a quality candidate (and you should know this), take the time to do what is necessary to get off the waitlist:

1) Follow-up with the school. Stay in contact as much as possible. Stay engaged. Nothing beats enthusiasm in a candidate, and schools know that.
2) Ask for feedback and put that feedback into action. If that means retaking the GMAT or resubmitting your resume with updates about awards or community service or a promotion, do that.
3) Seek out other recommendations. These can be external or even internal character references from people at the school currently or peers/mentors who can vouch for you.
4) If you haven't already, visit campus. I heard an admissions director tell me once that a waitlisted student took a week off work to visit the campus, came and took every single class they had on offer and met with faculty and students every single day, just to get a feel of the school and the fit. He got off the waitlist and was admitted the following week. Every little thing can make a difference.
5) Remain POSITIVE! All hope is not lost. You can do this if you know it is meant for you. I believe you WILL WHAT YOU WANT in this world, so don't lose hope.

Good luck OnePlusOne, and don't give up hope. You have a real shot at getting in this year, and I know that if you want to be in the Class of 2017, you will be. :-)

I wonder if this affects anyone's decision. I'm not saying it should, but we know for some people it will.

I read that article yesterday and thought, "Who will EVER use these rankings again if they keep changing the methodology year after year?!"

It's sad, as I used to really rely on those rankings. Now I guess the alternative is to not focus on rankings at all! lol

Well no offense to Duke, but Businessweek should have realized that the new methodology wasn't going to earn them any points before they published. I certainly think Duke is a great school, but the huge gains and drops was a clear red flag. I think it just pushes more people to US News (which I would think was already the #1 for most) simply because they have an established reputation and reasonable gains and losses each year.

I admit I looked at rankings to narrow down the set of schools I was going to explore further. If I had seen Bloomberg's current list when I first started researching I would have thought they were crazy. Now after being admitted I think rankings mean a lot less, but should still have a small factor in decisions if there are big discrepancies.

just got a call - in at USC. missed the call though - so she said nothing about money.... she DID say they would mail out a package that i should get next week. Also, she said they would need official GMAT since i applied through CGSM - that doesn't seem right... anyone else get that?
