For anyone that applied to Tuck via the Consortium, did you receive access to an online website to check your status? I just realized that I only received a "thank you for applying via the Consortium your application is under review..."

Anyone get anything different?

When did you get this?
I have not received anything yet, except for the harmless but annoying e-mail blast reminding me to apply round 2 early and a "common mistake checklist" :? . I had to double check with them that they had my application for RD1.

I was wondering the same. The only correspondence that I rec'd was the interview invite. I created an online login but it is not connected to my CGSM app and therefore remains blank. Should we call? 1, 2, 3 not it.

Ok fine!! I'm not going to call, but I'll email. ACKKKKK

Hi all,

Best of luck to those of you who have already applied. I am in the process of applying for R2, and I had 2 questions I'm hoping some of you who are further along in the process can help with.

1. Rankings impact on admission - Is there a definitive list of Consortium schools that do vs. do not consider how candidates rank them in their admission criteria? For example, I've heard that to put Haas as #2 in your rankings is to punch a ticket to dingsville. I'm guessing that's not 100% true, but there has to be some truth to schools protecting their yields.

2. Recommendations - The space for recommendation letters is really limited at 1000 characters per question. Did any of you explicitly request that your recommenders provide a "general" letter in addition to just responding to the prompts? It seems like Consortium recommendations give recommenders less opportunity to speak to specific examples of your strengths, etc.

Thanks!

Quick question to my Go Blue hopeful brethren,
So I received the blast e-mail yesterday, and then the "mea culpa" today.
However there was one HUGE difference between the two...on the bottom of the e-mail is has a survey for me to fill out asking for me to verify my address and phone number...can I get a verification from others? I don't want to read too into the survey, or my power level won't be easily contained lol

My email had the survey as well. I'm not going to look that much into it unless I hear that others didn't get the survey.

I'm interested in this topic as well.

I have Ross, Tuck, Stern, Yale SOM, Tepper, and Goizueta on my list. I'm applying R2.

How much can these schools tolerate not being one or two on your ranking list? I've heard that Yale, Haas, and Stern are very sensitive.

I ranked Stern #2 and Tuck #3, and got interviews at both. Haas I ranked #1 and still haven't heard anything. That's as much evidence as I can give.

Interesting. Thank you bml. I just want to finish these essays. The wait until mid march will be a long one.

Hey jbotero08,
I talked to some ADs from both Tuck and Ross, and the feedback I received was that the ranking does not come into play until after admission has been granted. In other words, you get admitted first, then the schools see where you ranked them. If lets say you put HAAS 1st, then they will be the first school to offer you the scholarship. If they pass on you, then the scholarship goes to the school you ranked #2, and so forth down the line until a school chooses you for the scholarship. However, here is the kicker, lets say that you put HAAS #4 and Tepper #1, if Tepper takes you and offers you the scholarship, then HAAS can no longer offer you the scholarship.

I hope that clarifies it.

Just need to chime in ...

The above is incorrect. Schools DO see the rankings when they are evaluating you for admission.
They all say that it plays no role in your admissions decision BUT I don’t entirely believe that.

Really? I wonder why the AD's told me differently then. Well I think before anyone of us speaks on this, I think it would be best if we can link something substantiating the claim so that people (myself included) can have a closure/ease of mind going forward.

One of my mentors used to be on the admissions team at one of the Consortium schools and he told me that they did see your rankings. I don't know if the process has changed since he left though, it's been about 2 years now.

I spoke with an admissions staffer at Tuck earlier in the process and she indicated that they are aware of cgsm ranking when they review your app. They claim that this has no bearing on admission, but...
