Kryzak, thanks, I spoke to HSA and they mentioned they are adding more classes.

GoBruins, I was planning on attending but got stuck at a client. How was it?

I didn't go, however Ancientmkt did, he posted some comments up to. I would love to go to haas but I think I'm in a weird oversubscribed group. Male Engineer from Cali. Seems like a dime a dozen and I don't have strong stats. The GPA average at Haas seems incredibly high.

I know plenty of Male Engineers from Cali in my class. Granted, most of them were doing some sort of consulting, BD, non-engineering stuff a year or two before applying. Don't let the GPA and stats discourage you. If you have a strong story to tell about your leadership or experience, that will trump stats any day.

Alright, Made my decision to apply R2. December here I come. The academic dissipline thing still scares the **** out of me but hey I don't think that's any worst than looking at my transcripts.

Hopefully I have a better story than all these other California UC Engineers.

Done with my GMAT this past weekend. Going full guns on apps now. Haas is my favorite place to app this season (despite what the rankings say). Liked the friendly, down-to-earth alums in the info. session. Will be visiting campus on sep 23rd for a class visit and a lunch. Sooper excited!

Helping organize one of the largest Haas conferences, the Digital Media and Entertainment Conference (might be one of the largest conferences of its kind?)

www.playconference.org

If you're in the SF Bay Area, or love Digital Media, definitely try to come check it out. October 17th!

Sounds very interesting kryzak! Both of my jobs have been in that field. I'd be interested in attending if I make some solid progress on my applications in the coming weeks... Any idea as to when this would sell out?

Last year it sold out about a week or two before. But if you really want to come, just let me know, I can find a way to get you in. :)

kryzak, I just read through all your posts in the "H/W/S selection criteria" thread that someone recently bumped and I'm really impressed by your conviction about choosing Haas, even before all the decisions came out. Your passion for Haas is very cool and refreshing amidst all the importance that gets put on brand/prestige, especially in terms of the top three. If I'm fortunate enough to be able to pick from more than one school, hopefully I'll be able to stand by my original reasons for being interested in each place rather than choosing the highest ranked one.

Hey kryzak, it was nice meeting you at the MBA Tour on Sunday. I enjoyed hearing your insights on Haas and business school in general. I'm definitely excited to learn more about Haas in the future and look forward to my class visit in a few weeks.

gregarious, good luck with your apps! Trust me, it will still be somewhat tough when faced with a choice between a higher "ranked" school and one that fits you perfectly. All the "brainwashing" that we've been treated to really gets to you after a while. :P

The good news is, wherever you end up, at any UE/E school, if the culture and atmosphere fits you, you'll be very happy and will get a lot out of bschool. I think if you really ask any UE/E school students or alums right now, most of them will tell you that all the rankings discussion are pretty irrelevant. Yes, there are some differences, especially in some industries. But for most of the other industries? Probably not as much as US News and BW would like you to believe. :)

Hi GoBruins,

the Monday is probably good to visit. Any later in that week people might be gone for the long weekend.

Hope that helps!

The activity on this thread is surprisingly light. Anyone else starting to stress as R1 deadlines are coming up? I'm really struggling with the 250 word limit on these short essays. Consider this a thread bump.

Got a question as well... Haas often states that they really look for quality of work experience and career progression. Should I consider that when writing my essays and try to tailor most of them towards work examples? I'm a little concerned that I haven't shown enough about my career in my essays. Any other applicants thought about this?

I'm pretty surprised how light the traffic is here. The last two years it has been pretty decent.

Haas looks for good work experience/career progression AND who you are. They want a 3-D view of you as an applicant, not just a working machine. Personally, I would dedicate a few of your essays to your passions, hobbies, community work, what makes you "you". The meat of the essays is definitely the career goals one, and you can definitely talk about other career stuff in a couple more essays.

Hi,

I was wondering if I need to send the official score reports (GMAT and TOEFL) by deadline for my application to be considered complete? or should I just enter them in the application form and if invited for IV, then provide the official reports.
