Dear waitlisters, as the notification email mentions that waitlisters should arrange an interview with adcom, does it mean we should proceed to arrange for an interview or are we still to wait for an interview invitation?

Waitlisted as well. I already interviewed though. Anyone know what the average % of people get accepted off the waitlist? I know it depends on yield, but if anyone knows a historical average, it would be great info to have. Thanks.

I heard that they keep ~100 people on the waitlist at any one time. I also heard that roughly 15 get admitted from R1 and R2, but both of those are unsourced.

Officially, Johnson said in the R2 waitlist chat (March 19), "Suffice it to say, the waitlist is constantly changing in size until we have released R4 decisions when we create the final waitlist, which is usually relatively small."

In the same waitlist chat, in reply to "What percentage of waitlisted candidates were eventually accepted on average over say, the past 5 years?", Johnson said, "Jon, it has varied widely in the past 5 years, so I really can't give you a meaningful average."

My totally personal guess, from the bits gathered here and there, is you'll see about 100 people added to the waitlist from the first two rounds, with 10-15 admitted and most of the rest dropped, ending with a final waitlist of ~100 over the summer. Why so high? Remember, they want diversity in their waitlist crowd; if they lose a female South American oil drilling entrepreneur, they won't want to replace her with a white male i-banker from New York...

So does this mean that WListed individuals don't really hear back till R4 decisions are released? Or can we expects admits and dings over the next couple of weeks for folks who have been around since R1 and R2..?

See my earlier comment:
Quote:

After the Waitlist chat held on March 19, I received the following in an email from the adcom:

"Round 2 waitlist candidates will be reviewed again after we have released Round 3 decisions. We will provide a status update to all waitlisted candidates on or before May 7. Please remember that, if you wish to add materials to your application, you should do so before April 28."

Unless things have changed, I would expect to hear an update by May 7.
