applied R1... part of the frustrated masses waiting for a decision and despite arguments to the contrary feeling like the decision has probably already been made...

To those who have been invited to interview would you be willing to share the points that you believe have set you apart from the pack?

I believe the Adcom generally try to get the invites to those who need to get plane tickets ASAP, but due to the random nature of when your app is fully read and evaluated, sometimes people will get last minute invites (like, 2 days before SS). The thing is, Super Saturday is OPTIONAL. While I strongly recommend and urge anyone who can to attend Super Saturday (it's a fun and educational 1/2 day event), due to work schedules, ticket prices, and other reasons, you are also given the option to interview locally with an alum.

There is NO difference whether you interview with a student or an alum. In fact, during Super Saturday, you may interview with a student, alum, or even an Adcom (if you're "lucky" :P). All interviews are considered with equal weight, so don't panic if you can't make SS.

Hope that helps!

Is it possible to interview on campus for R1 at a time other than SS? I would really like to visit anyway, but cannot make 1/16. Not that I have been invited or anything...

Unfortunately, on-campus interviews do not start until the week we're back, so 1/19. You *can* interview on campus after that, but keep in mind the R1 decision date. You can always interview with alums off-campus before then.

First time poster - please add me to the roll call.

Applied R1, received invitation to attend SS.

Does anyone know the admit/ding percentage for those invited to interview at last year's R1 SS?

In for R2, submitted 12/10

Just received an email from the admissions office that my application status has changed to "Application Under Review", and that they will require an official transcript if I am invited to interview. Guess the nail-biting begins - just 3 months until the round 2 notifications are released. :)

I am planning to apply for rd 3 at Haas.

Does anyone know if it is a hope and a prayer for this round as it is with Wharton? (I realize that Haas has 4 rounds, and I could see rd 4 being similar to any school's later round).

I consider my application strong, but I assume that given Haas small class size most of the class is filled by this point?

i have the same concern. i'm thinking of applying R3 but don't really know if it will be worth it? I had initially thought that Haas R3 was equivalent to R2 at other schools but think I might be very wrong on this..thoughts?

From what I've heard, Haas round 3 is roughly equal to 1/2. I believe you'll get a fair shot at admission. Go for it!

what's applying in round three like? since there are four rounds i would assume it's not equivalent to RD 3 at other schools? when are students back in school after the holiday?

i'm currently back in the bay for the holidays and keep having this stirring feeling that i should apply to UCB. i've always loved the campus, the program is strong in both the areas i want to go into, and i know i want to end up back in the bay area...my only reservation is Haas's lack of diversity, but this is a UC problem in general

edit: just saw the answer to my question above

Given that you are in the area and Haas is a small, close-knit program I would visit if you want to apply to rd3. Even though rd1 rd2 and rd3 hold equal weight as people have mentioned, I assume that most of the interested people apply early and more than 3/4s of the class is formed.

There is a specific essay question (250) words) that asks what you have done to learn about the program. I think admissions will easily sniff me out as a person who did not get into other places and "threw in an app" for rd3. Granted there are other ways to learn about the program; however, I think that effort to visit shows more interest.

Since the app is not due till Feb, I might make an effort to visit as it might increase chances to interview.

Side note: it is xmas eve and I am on the gmatclub at work. FML

I wish I had knew about R1=R2=R3, I may have been less trigger happy to send out out my application...

Anyone get an invite?
