ssp is right on, based on what I've heard from Haas students and alums. There's a big advantage in being able to drive 30 minutes and network with Silicon Valley firms as opposed to doing it over the phone or having to fly across the country to interview. Haas's experiential learning courses are heavily tied in with nearby tech firms and plenty of people get internships and jobs with everyone from the biggies like Google to new startups. Yes, MIT is well-known for tech but Berkeley's engineering schools aren't too bad themselves, and I've talked to plenty of people who said they spent plenty of time learning from the tech types through interdisciplinary classes or just by hanging around labs in their spare time.
Plus, you can't discount climate of the Bay Area vs. Boston....all things being equal, would you choose 9 months of spring/summer or 9 months of winter?
Congrats to all the new admits--hope to see some of you at D@H in two weeks.
