raven52, no need to apologize, thanks for your honesty. It was getting a little weird to see everyone getting in... so much for the low teens acceptance rate. I have a feeling that there are others but people aren't as forthcoming about the dings.

I'll be joining you soon, perhaps without even the courtesy of an interview. My strategy for this process is not to get my hopes up ever.

The best piece of advice I can give is to reach out and just research the hell out of the school. Before I applied, I spoke with the director the healthcare program, and discussed my conversation with him in my essays and during the interview. I also did research on things that are somewhat unique to CBS: the follies, the rugby team - and met with people from both.

CBS wants applicants who really badly want to attend its program. It's understandable to see why CBS has early decision: to commit applicants who may be competitive at H, S, W, so it's imperative that you show exactly why CBS is the school for you.

So attend a few events, read the entire website, and go on a few student blogs. It never hurts. Bschool is beyond a two year program. It's the beginning of a lifelong affiliation with a brand and a network.

Sucks to see guys rejected today, but it's a great time to determine why this app did not work, and how your apps can be tailored to help you get in someplace else that may be a better fit.

Good luck!

the gmatclub community has been very helpful to me, so good luck.

as for ds7 and andoverjon, what schools are you guys planning on applying to now? have you guys been working on other apps throughout?

I was hoping for the best and expecting the worst so I am prepared. I am targeting Kellogg, Berkeley, and NYU. I have Kellogg all set to go, just need to click the button. Berkeley is on revision 7 or 8.

Sad thing is, Columbia was by FAR my first choice. I liked pretty much everything about it (NY, Finance, it was my fav school applying to undergrad, it was my favorite school visit) and it fit in perfectly with my plans and my gf's plans (she's graduating in December with a masters in architecture and will be looking for work. she went to Columbia as an undergrad and has the most connections in NYC. Plus her family's 30 minutes away). That being said, I didn't expect to get in because there are so many good applicants and there is nothing really special about my application except my GMAT score, which I think is a stupid test anyway.

I actually hired an admissions consultant for my essays because I am so paranoid about not getting in anywhere. Can't speak for the results so far, but while I thought it was expensive at first, now I think they don't charge enough as the guy I'm working with has put in SO many hours helping me.

Anyway, good luck to those who are still in the game. and to ds7 and raven52, better luck to you in your next applications.

In previewing my Columbia application in PDF format prior to submission, I noticed that the PDF application only lists the first three schools that I attended. The transcripts, however, are included for all five schools that I attended. In HTML preview format, all five schools that I attended were listed in the application. Does the PDF application only show the first three schools attended? Or is there an error in my application?

Thanks,

Its probably an error. Wharton's pdf format omits stuff as well and looking through their technical support KB it even mentioned the issue there and noted that as long as you answered it on the form, it would be saved in the database.. I assume its a similar issue for Columbia.

@ brainhurt - You are one step closer to give up all your anxiety and when you least expect, you will get that mail..

I am still a few steps away to stop worrying and to concentrate on my work.. i had to explain to my boss yesterday why I have not been able to focus lately.. but today, I am just going to forget everything and check my email only once in the evening..

So one of the founders of KKR, KRavis, is donating $100m to CBS.

Congrats to those who got in!

This is great! Any chance any of us will be studying in that building, or will it not be completed by 2013?

The first phase of the project, of which CBS is a part, is scheduled for completion in 2015. So probably not, although who knows, maybe they'll open it in stages.

I submitted my app last week, but my rec's have finally been submitted today - the app still shows "incomplete" on the website, so do you think there's a chance I'll miss the ED deadline? or am I safe because I submitted last week?

Thanks

On the same boat here. Submitted last Tuesday and final rec got submitted yesterday... I'm hoping it's the latter, as CBS states that as long as all materials are in before the ED deadline, you'll be considered for it.

BTW, mine still shows as incomplete too.
