Hi everyone! Congrats to all who've received admits!

I just found GMATClub and this forum, please add me to the RD list. Submitted 1/5/11 and my status still shows "printing."

I don't think anyone's heard about scholarships yet -- the website says they'll start notifying in February and again in April.

I submitted on Christmas day and went under review on 1/04. It seems like the earliest I'll get an interview invite, if I get one, would be around the 18th or so.

My friend just got the call yesterday.

She has a 640 GMAT. So proud of her.

That gives hope to the under 700 crew.

Congrats Josiebella! way to go gal :)

I have a question for all - is the "application complete" date relevant or "submission date"? I submitted mid Oct, but then got "incomplete" status as they wanted me to take TOEFL. I sent my score on 8Dec, and went "complete" couple of days after that. It reads "under review" now.

So should I consider that I will be considered for interview along with people from December or Oct? Havn't heard anything from them yet - starting to get a little disappointed. I put in the max effort in CBS app :(

Stern or CBS? no brainer, even with money on the table. Columbia, hands down.

They are pretty close in the rankings no?
Columbia = Ivy League = CAREER WIN!

Congrats to your friend. But it definitely is A LOT easier for women to get into top b-schools. A guy, especially a white or asian male, would have virtually no shot at columbia with that GMAT score.

Do you have any numbers to back up that statement? I can't find it for Columbia, but for Stern, the percentage of women applicants is 35% and the percentage of women in the class is 34%. So unless the yield for women is very different than the yield for men, it seems that the admission probabilities are the same. Here's the reference:

A friend from college works at the admissions office of a top b-school (not gonna disclose where), and he told me that women and non-asian minorities have a much easier time getting in. He did not give me exact numbers, but I take him at his word. This is also supported by all the people I know who applied and looking at their credentials and results, women definitely had an easier time.

Not taking anything away from them. I hope people do not interpret this as somehow being sexist. I'm merely describing what the situation is.

To clarify, I wasn't implying sexism from anyone. But I have looked around for quantifiable verification of this frequent claim, and the most I have been able to find was a statistical analysis on a blog (which I can't find right now), which concluded that there might be a small advantage. I can easily believe that it was a large effect years ago, when the number of female applicants was much smaller, but it's not clear to me that it's still the case now (https://www.topmba.com/articles/applicat ... tions-GMAT), and I'd really like to find out one way or the other.
