Hey everyone, I need some advice! So I emailed an alumni yesterday late morning about his availability for a meeting and he replied back within a minute or two, in lightening speed, saying that he would be happy to meet but is available next week. I replied back and told him my availability but said that I would make myself available at his convenience if my schedule didn't fit his and since then, I have gotten no response. He's the CEO of a medium sized company in NYC and I know he's busy but how long should I wait before I email him again? My interview deadline is next friday. I'm thinking I should follow up on Wednesday morning (2 days later)...does this sound reasonable? I just don't want to be in a situation where I am scrambling to find an interviewer last minute.

sounds reasonable -- in the next e-mail you should include your deadline. maybe you'll be lucky and he will reply today

Long time lurker, first time poster... Just got the call (9pm here in Asia, 8am EST), I'm in!! Sorry for the lurking, but I'll try to give you as much info as possible now.

Stats:
F/24/Asian-American
GMAT 760
GPA 3.0 from Ivy
3 years work experience (1 in mgmt consulting in the US, 2 in a "non-traditional" industry in Asia)
Pretty good EC's in college, but not exceptional after college

Timeline:
Submitted 9/13/10
Invited to Interview 12/14/10
Interview Complete 12/21/10
Accepted 1/11/11

I wanted to give a little bit of hope to any of you who think you're out because of a low GPA! I was really scared that was going to be my big downfall, but I feel lucky that it worked out in the end.

So nice to hear someone with a 3.0 got in. I have a 2.9 and took some extra courses that I did well in. I was thrilled to have the chance to interview, which I didn't expect. But now I am anxiously waiting for the call....*fingers crossed*

Whether it's fair or not, Columbia is widely considered to be a top 7 school, whereas Stern is generally regarded as part of the next tier down, or a top 15 school. Columbia has the stronger brand, by far.
