Anyone interested in applying to the Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing? It seems like Heilbrunn is the creme de la creme of graduate level value investing programs, and it is only open to 2nd year students. Is anyone or does anyone know anybody in this program -- what do they think of it?
According to my interviewer, it's very hard to get in.
I spoke on the phone with a friend of a friend who just completed the Value Investing program. He said that there were ~120 applicants and 40 get in. So, yes it's pretty tough. He basically said if you do anything but buy-side value oriented investment management in your summer internship, you will not get accepted to the program. He suggested that I volunteer at a fund both during school and in the summer, be heavily involved in the CIMA, etc. etc.
He also suggested not making the Value Investing program the main focus of your application as CBS doesn't want a bunch of unhappy folks that come to Columbia for the program and then don't get in. Just his two cents.
