some interesting data from https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... l=en#gid=0

For the ED applicants in that spreadsheet, about 43 of them got an interview invite and out of 43, 30 of them were accepted, and 3 of them were deferred and the rest did not report the final decision. So if we just get rid of those who didn't report the final decision, then out of 33 interviewed applicants for ED, 30 of them were accepted... the odds are overwhelming. hopefully it means something.

Anyone interested in applying to the Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing? It seems like Heilbrunn is the creme de la creme of graduate level value investing programs, and it is only open to 2nd year students. Is anyone or does anyone know anybody in this program -- what do they think of it?

According to my interviewer, it's very hard to get in.

I spoke on the phone with a friend of a friend who just completed the Value Investing program. He said that there were ~120 applicants and 40 get in. So, yes it's pretty tough. He basically said if you do anything but buy-side value oriented investment management in your summer internship, you will not get accepted to the program. He suggested that I volunteer at a fund both during school and in the summer, be heavily involved in the CIMA, etc. etc.

He also suggested not making the Value Investing program the main focus of your application as CBS doesn't want a bunch of unhappy folks that come to Columbia for the program and then don't get in. Just his two cents.

Right, some applicants are in the 8-10 week period I believe.

True some are, but looking back at his posts he submitted June 30 so his decision took exactly 5 weeks. (Or her/she/her if I'm assuming incorrectly.)

The waiting is brutal! I'm submitting at the end of this week and then the fun starts for me again.

At least you know you're getting close... once the interviewer submits (doesn't he/she remember the torture???) you should get a decision in what, 1-2 weeks?
