When the recommenders submit the recommendation letters, does the status show up anywhere on the online application?

yes, it does.

For that specific recommender, it'll say "Submitted" (or something like that to confirm). In another word, you'll know when the recommender has submitted the letter (you'll also get an electronic email in your mailbox).

It was quick for me. I submitted my app on the 20th of this month

Ok i guess you mightve thought i meant you but i was referring to chaitu69...
well i havent gotten a ding or interview and chaitu69 got interviewed. So basically i havent gotten a decision while he has. I am not angry or anything but just kinda curious of the process.

I understood that you were comparing yourself with Chaitu69.But we dont know which application was looked at first.

From the former adcoms who became admission consultants, we know they always have 3 choices : yes/maybe/no. The rest is a bit more vague, including the pile system itself.

o well...

And your application might been waiting for one of the adcom on a road trip this week ... Overthinking about these stuff can only hurt your motivation.. You just need to move on to the next app.

chaitu69 is definitely an unusual (in a damn good way !!) case. I mean, look at last year's post. Most of ED acceptance followed the traditional 8-12 weeks timeline, and I think there was only one person who finished everything in less than 10 weeks. So unless you don't hear back good or bad after 10 weeks, then it's not yet time to worry and chug down bacardi 151.

I am definitely interested to know about chaitu69's profile, but no matter what, it is true that the adcom was impressed :-D 9 days?? 9 days !!!!

Chaitu69 probably just had a very fast first reader. As indicated, Columbia gives 3 rounds of reviews on each application, first two rounds by individual readers, the last round by the committee. So obviously Chaitu69 got his interview invite issued by the first reader. I really don't think it implicates one way or the other when you get the invite.

how did people answer the question about financing your mba? I will be applying for grants, loans, etc but obviously don't know how much I will get yet. what did people put if they are covering all costs themselves along with financial aid? AKA, no employer payments and no scholarships (yet at least)

Anyone interested in applying to the Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing? It seems like Heilbrunn is the creme de la creme of graduate level value investing programs, and it is only open to 2nd year students. Is anyone or does anyone know anybody in this program -- what do they think of it?

According to my interviewer, it's very hard to get in.
