Just got in! Very excited!

Got the standard, impersonal "status change" e-mail and had to check the system for decision. Was convinced it was a w/l or ding.

Submitted 1/3
Under review d/k
Invitation to interview 2/16
Interview 3/1
Application complete 3/4
Admitted 3/11

Congrats!!! Do you mind sharing your profile - gmat, we, etc?

Wow! That was a fast turn-around time after going complete. Congrats! Went complete on 3/4 as well....will be staring at my phone all week (and now email too)! I'm not reading anything into this (and there's been plenty of discussion on the forums about this), but I just received a response to my thank you note about 2 weeks after my interview. BUT my interviewer did tell me that Columbia lets them know if their interviewees have been admitted (he keeps stats on his success rate, lol).....

Got the acceptance call on Friday morning around 10am Eastern! Ahh, shocked!

Submitted- 01/05
Under Review- 01/12?
Interview Invite- 02/07
Interview- 02/25
Complete- 02/28
Decision- 03/11

F, 28 yrs old, 6.5 years experience in business research/consulting, 700 GMAT, 3.73 GPA at top 10 US university

Good luck to everyone that's waiting! Oh, and the hardest interview questions were: what will your legacy at Columbia be? ethical dilemma at work (with LOTS of follow-up questions), and define your leadership style and how it's evolved. Also, know your resume REALLY well.

Just wanted to quickly share my interview experience, which I had last Friday.

I talked to one of the current CBS students, and the interview was very conversational. He started by saying that the format for the interview was no format. Having said that, some of the standard questions one would expect (why MBA, why CBS, leadership roles, Resume questions, backup plan) did come up, so, make sure you know your story well.

After the "official part" was over, he was kind enough to give me time to ask any questions about the Columbia experience "of the record", so, it was really informative and I really liked the first-hand feedback he provided. All together, the interview lasted for one hour, which was followed by a 40 minute informal Q&A session.

If I had to choose the school only from the interviewing experience, CBS would be my top choice hands-down. I have had a couple other interviews, but usually they are like examinations with interviewers feeling as if you should be happy only for being considered. This time it was different as the interviewer was passionate about his program and wanted to share his positive experience so that in case I am admitted, I would choose CBS from various options I may have just like he did.

Good luck to all still waiting for their interviews!

Cheers!

I have friend at Columbia now who got accepted from the waitlist. He said that after he was waitlisted, he continued going to campus, visiting classes, spoke with professors and adcom members, etc. Basically, did everything possible to show how strong his interest was in the school. He eventually got accepted... I would recommend doing the same. Don't just call and say please accept me.. Actually go and show that you really want to be accepted. This link shows some good info also

Is it pretty safe to assume that its too late to submit an application for CBS? Judging by everyone's post, most people have already received their decision. Am I better off holding my application until next year?

Yes, I would recommend waiting until next time if you haven't submitted an application yet. Of course, it can't hurt to submit now but I think you'd be wasting your time. I got a ding from CBS, but interviews from H/S/W. Granted, I applied early Feb to CBS and didn't realize that I should emphasize the need for a summer internship (be sure you do that if you apply this late) - and my career goals/background make it pretty obvious that I don't need the internship. Oh well, fingers crossed for H/S/W :) Good luck to all you guys who are waiting to hear back from CBS!

Thanks for the advice. Though, I'm not sure I understand the point about emphasizing the need for an internship. Is it to separate myself as a September start vs a January start? I'm not a career switcher either so I don't necessarily need an internship, but it certainly helps in this economic environment. Good luck with your other schools!
