The deadline of ED is Oct 6 right? And the committee is reviewing application already? That's really early!

Good luck all!

I wonder how long the turnaround is between under review and invite to interview. I checked last year's CBS application spreadsheet. It seems that it takes anywhere from 20 days to almost 2 months. Really hard to gauge it now.

I don't think setting no "review-start" date for ED will make it difficult to get in though.

I think people mainly choose regular decision (over ED) because they don't like the obligations (i.e. "I think I will chose H/S/W/B if I can get in") or they don't have time to produce solid apps in that time period.

I don't see how no "review-start" date will have an effect on those issues. But yes, that will save paranoia for some and a pantload of money for some too. :P

Also, unless you are submitting in early to mid June, you will have to invest your time for other apps anyway because if you send in apps in July/August, you will receive your decision Sept. earliest. Unless you can whip up crazy good apps for multiple schools in a month, you should still work on other schools' apps --- just to account for the bad or to "hedge".

People who've already submitted are making me crazy !!!! Adcom !! save room for me !!

only requiring 2 essays makes CBS application simplistic! So a lot of people will be able to get their apps in early.

Hi all,

I'm currently on the waitlist for 2010 but am ready to submit for 2011 ED if the waitlist doesn't pan out. Kind of a weird spot - especially since you can't submit for 2011 until a decision from 2010 has been rendered.

If you haven't already checked out the post on the 7 phases of applying to Business School, I'd recommend it. Completely true!

https://www4.gsb.columbia.edu/mba/learnmore/visit

well from their website they have info session every monday from 6-7:30 and they have class visits Mon-Thu. From the site you dont need to "schedule" anything but for class visits you need to go to the office to sign in and get a name tag. So I plan to go to an afternoon class then just hang out/explore till 6pm info session... its gonna be a rough trip but I gotta get as many "bonus" points as i can for this reach school

I'm reapplying ED, hopefully by the end of June (was dinged in Round 3 for Sept. 2010 entry).

Btw, I think the heading in the first post should say Class of 2013, not 2012.

I'm heading down next week (the 14th) for the info session and going to visit classes on the 15th. Going to the Stern info session on the 15th as well since I'm in NYC anyway. I need all the bonus points I can get too!

@ riamac07, I'm in the same situation. Are you waiting until you have a final waitlist decision to put in your ED application for 2011?
