CBS, in addition to some other schools such as Yale SOM, Booth, and Duke Fuqua, uses an applicant tracking system that handles all aspects of the admissions process including the application itself and correspondence with candidates.

Specifically, Columbia and Yale use a system called Slate by Technosolutions. https://technolutions.com/
So, the answer to your question is yes, the system probably batches the emails and sends them out at a certain time.
The lesson learned is that make sure to click any links in the emails you get from the schools and otherwise show interest, because these systems keep track of how engaged you seem.

Wow. 780/3.8/Brazil and ding w/o interview from 3 schools? I thought I was unlucky... That's rough. Sorry to hear and all the best for other schools. I think the key take away so far from Columbia has been - In order to improve your chances, apply early.

I wish they tracked our interest by the number of times we Log In to check our result. Atleast then I would have had a decent change :D
But I think, chances of getting an invite now are as much as getting an invite in R3 in other schools, considering the 6 weeks thing mentioned by someone earlier, its the remains of invites left that I think will go to very very few.
