Hi Harsh, Congratulations on Booth Admit.
How many years of work experience are you having ? Also more ex should be a factor deciding on 1 yr / 2yrs MBA ? Also if you are aware of admits who got full scholarship for 1yr MBA?

I have almost 9 years of exp. And yes, higher experience generally means you have a better understanding of what you want from your career, and because of the higher opportunity cost, a 1-yr program can sometimes make more sense than a 2-yr one. Sadly, I’m not aware of anyone with a full scholarship for a 1-yr prog. Those are anyway extremely competitive to get, especially across the top US B-schools

I did a few mocks with my consultants to tighten my story around some standard questions like walk me through your resume, why MBA, why now, why X school, goals, how would you contribute, / TMAY-type questions. Surprisingly, my Booth interview was actually quite boring and monotonic 😅 It was with a 2Y student who had a strict poker face. And I think fit can vary a lot depending on what kind of experience you bring to the cohort and how that adds to the overall class composition. Sometimes you might fit the bill well, but because seats are limited, you can still luck out. So I wouldn’t overstress too much about one school and would definitely apply broadly so you have good options in hand

Okay
Also whether our work profile has to be something like we made a Unicorn to get admitted to top B Schools like Booth, Ross, Tuck, Stern?
I wouldn’t rule that out, because having a few strong brand names on your resume definitely helps. But if that’s something you don’t have, I wouldn’t overthink. Instead, focus on the other areas where you can build a strong profile and highlight the unique capabilities and experiences you briing

Also whether associating with an NGO is also required to get admitted?
No, that’s not a strict requirement

Did you take GMAT coaching?
If yes from where?
I started with Manhattan but later on it was mostly self-prep. You can find more details about my GMAT journey in my debrief - 775-q90-v85-d90-a-love-hate-gmat-story-that-took-6-years-to-finish-444781.html

What is the range of GRE/GMAT scores that you have seen for Booth for Indians?
They are relatively on the higher end. From what I’ve heard, most scores were about 705

GRE I am not too sure (as most of the folks I know took GMAT), can get back on that later

Hi Harsh,
thanks for doing this. I just have specific question. In your experience, what do you think schools look for while deciding scholarship for students.

Merit scholarships are usually driven quite a bit by your grades/test scores. Along with that, the unique aspects of your profile and how badly the school wants you in that particular cohort can also influence the scholarship amount. At the same time, if you apply in a later round, schools might already have a more limited scholarship pool available, so you could luck out despite a strong profile

Hi Harsh
Congratulations on so many admits!
Pretty generic questions but could you throw some light on
1. GRE vs GMAT - have you seen adcoms preferring one over the other from info maybe from your peer.
2. R1 vs R2- does R2 come with lower admits & lower scholarship pool?
