They are waitlisting even more people (read a few new ones now in bweek forums)...when will they make the decision? :-(

Columbia is notorious for being obsessed with their yield, I think they'll hold waitlist decisions well into the summer.

Hang in there man! I think Columbia is one of the schools that encourages wait-listers to show interest. I'd visit the school, speak to professors and alumni. Maybe even submit an additional recommendation.

You put up a good fight.
There's nothing wrong with CBS ding.

Actually, the only thing wrong with CBS ding is CBS dinging a qualified applicant like yourself. :-D

It's better than someone (*cough*myself*cough*) who was too afraid of applying to top school like CBS to begin with.

Good luck with your other apps.

Email. I believe accepted students also get a phone call, not sure for CBS if that comes before or after the email update.

Hey Guys !

I had my interview a couple of days ago over the phone (It had been over two weeks, No response from the Alum).

Here is a rundown of it. Probably will help someone.

My interviewer was a friendly guy and really wanted to understand what i did.

- It started with : - Walk me thru your resume. He was interested in some of my undergraduate activities (I am a young applicant), then the organizations i have worked in, my role currently as an entrepreneur... in the same answer i talked about my vision - Why MBA (He confirmed the reasons). A lot of discussion on this part and we discussed it for 10 - 15 mins.

- Then what are my short term goals : I talked about goals and why are they my goals (A logical progression of what i have done till now !)

- What do i do in my free time ? (I enjoy playing my guitar ..i told him about a couple of songs i enjoyed playing..he was amused :) )

- How would i contribute to Columbia ( I talked about how i would contribute as a student and as an alumni - carry the spirit of the school with me... My answer was a bit long..so he said lets move on as he had an idea about what i wanted to convey)

- Other schools you have applied to : I mentioned why columbia is my first choice, i compared columbia with each school and why did i prefer it more. I did try and squeeze why columbia part here but seems we were short on time so kind cut it short. I think i could have added a bit more.

- Then came the ethical dilemma questions : Really asked me a lot of questions, what actions did i do, what were the consequences ?

- Any questions for me ?

Thats it. Overall, i believe it was a decent effort from my side. He was positive at the end.

But on the flip side i submitted my application on January 6, so its almost going to be 12 Weeks soon....lets see. Another thing I am a young international applicant (going to be 25 at matriculation) so you never know what happens ! I believe as someone mentioned that "Our fates are sealed before the interview ". Lets see if its a ding...I am headed to UCLA.

Is it too late to submit my application to Columbia's regular decision round?

I've got everything ready, including recommendations but am not sure if there are still spots open - should I call the admissions office and ask?

Thanks

Man, I'm starting to feel like they forgot about me. Still no word, although I hear that's a good sign, so maybe I shouldn't stress about it.

When did your application indicate "completed" ?

Just over 2 weeks ago. so not so long, lots of people heard in the 3rd or 4th week, and a longer wait is usually a better result. Just starting to wear on me.
