AdamH83 - LBS has extremely strong ties with Columbia and offers extremely good exchange options to Columbia (although it may not work out for you if you're American as they have a "no home country" policy on exchange).

In any case best of luck for Columbia.

applied 11/26, invited for interview 1/6, and interviewed 1/12

deadline for London Business School 1/23 :/
praying for a quick decision either way, but columbia is my #1 choice by far...

Hey yellowjacket,

I actually got an e-mail that said so. I believe that people who submitted a long time ago have the same message that you have, for the most part. They are not getting the "Under Review" message, but rather they are just receiving their interview invites directly. Hang in there and good luck.

i had my interview with an alumnus. it was a pleasant experience, he put me at ease right away by talking freely about his background etc. questions were along these lines and the duration about 60-70 minutes

resume walk through
why mba why now
why columbia
what if u dont get to columbia
what will u study if u go to columbia, post mba career options
where else did u apply
ethical dilemma
what kind of leader are you, experiences

overall, i've a good feeling about it and i hope and pray it turns out the way i wish :)

Thank you! +1. It seems that the ethical dilemma question is common with CBS interviews.

Am I the only one who still sees this message when I check my status:

Your application is complete and will be placed under review on January 7, 2009, the first day of our Regular Decision review period.

I submitted my application on December 16th and figured I would at least be under review by now.

Here is an awesome spreadsheet of the 2008 RD applicants (you can the dates when an applicant interviewed/went complete/received a decision).

If you take away all the people who didn't list the date when they went complete and some other outliers, the average number of days it takes to get a decision after going complete is about 11. Median is 9. A good number of people found out their decisions within 4 days!

Good luck to everyone. :-D

I am confused with Columbia deadlines.

The website says -

September 2009 (International Applicants)
Application Review Period Begins -- January 7, 2009
Decision Period (once a complete application goes under review) -- Within 12 weeks
Application Deadline (ALWAYS 11:59PM EST) -- March 4, 2009*

So, does this mean International students deadline is March 4, 2009?

Folks who've scheduled alum interviews - just want to make sure I understand the process right:
- I'm supposed to find the alum via the search.
- Email them directly
- After a time/date is agreed upon, fill it out online and hit that Confirm button.

Is that right?

Just want to make sure I'm reading the directions correctly :)

thanks!

That's what I'm doing, so even if it's wrong, the rest of us are wrong with you :)

Looks like I'll be doing mine tomorrow morning. Prob will prep tonight about the same I did for my other interviews(about half an hour or so), only answers I really want to articulate once or twice beforehand will be the 'ethical dilemna' one and the 'Why Columbia?' one since I am getting the idea that it's a very, very important question. Especially when I tell them I applied to Wharton (I assume they don't ask what your admit/WL/ding results to date have been).

A little googling shows my interviewer(like me) is big into distance running. Lets hope I didn't pack on so many pounds from holiday turkey and egg nog that he doesn't believe I'm into it as well.

Good luck with the interviews, guys. Mine was totally informal (didn't even ask the ethical dilemma question!) so I'm afraid I can't shed much light.

Some early decision people seemed to report hearing the 'ethical dilemma' question TWICE, so I would have a second example in the back of your mind, just in case...
