Anyone here with a GMAT FE 635 or GMAT Classic 690?
If you got admitted, was this score an asset? And what you think was your distinguishable factor?

That was what everyone was expecting..... but in this chat, on LiveWire and on Reddit the people at least I have talked with that were on the WL did not recieve any updates... (for the exception of jlwc here)

If tomorrow we do not have any news I would be really surprised...

Does a waitlist suggests that the interview was poor or they just simply admitted too many people in r1...?

I was WL in round 1. But didn’t get any WL manager appointed. No one contacted - neither through mail nor through call. Is it a bad sign? 🥲

Hey, harveyyyyy

When it comes to business school admissions, GMAT scores are just one factor considered. Admissions decisions are typically based on a comprehensive evaluation of an applicant's profile, which includes undergraduate GPA, work experience, leadership qualities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

The average GMAT score for Columbia MBA is around 730-740+ (classic). Usually, a score can be an asset if it meets or exceeds the average score of the business school's recently admitted class.
Business schools look for unique qualities in a candidate, such as work experience, leadership skills, community service, and compelling essays. A well-rounded application is important.

But again, there are always some special cases. For example, we had this candidate who got admitted to the CBS MBA  with a GMAT score of 700.

What set her apart was her unique work experience in the non-profit sector, where she led impactful projects in underdeveloped countries. Her essays effectively communicated her passion for social entrepreneurship and how an MBA would help her scale her impact. Her recommenders provided strong endorsements of her leadership skills, and since she was doing things that had a bigger impact on society,  the GMAT score was an asset, as it helped establish the fact that in addition to her work experience and a mindset to give back to the society, she's also excellent on academic criteria. But here, USP was definitely the unique experience she brought to the program, highlighting the importance of a well-rounded application. Additionally, for more details on Columbia, class profile, and Acceptance rate, you can refer to this blog- Columbia MBA Review

Sorry for the long answer; I hope this helps! :)

Cheers!

Hey guys, I was waitlisted after interviewing for the first round. The letter said "For Round 1 applicants, the Admissions Committee aims to communicate final decisions, or an invitation to remain on the waitlist, no later than mid-March.". But I haven’t heard from them yet. Any advice? Should I follow up with them? Anyone else in the same situation?
